Michael Castillo is a 2008 RHP/2B with a 5'11'', 160 lb. frame from West Dundee, Illinois, who attends Harry D. Jacobs High School. He is a young player with a lean and athletic look. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a short arm action on the back side. Castillo uses a simple delivery, and has solid arm speed. His fastball topped out at 78 mph and he shows good control of the pitch. Castillo also mixes in a breaking ball with good snap at 67 mph, and a 69 mph changeup. He mixes his pitches well showing pitchability, and he throws them all for strikes. Castillo will also drop down at times giving hitters a different look. At the plate he is a left handed hitter who hits from a straight away stance. He stays inside the ball showing the ability to hit to all fields. He has bat speed through the hitting zone with a line drive swing plane. He is aggressive at the plate, but he stays back well. Castillo is a good student as well.
