Cole Cook is a 2007 right hand pitcher from Palisades Charter HS, residing in Los Angeles, CA. Cook has a long, lanky, athletic build, with a well developed lower body on a plus 6'6" 198 lb. frame. He has plenty of room to fill out and continue to add power to his stuff. Cook impressed many in Fayetteville and was ranked #16 among PG National Top 85 pitchers. He pitches from a 3/4 slot and has a very quick, aggressive arm stroke. Cook has a short backside arm action and as he comes forward his hand seems to come toward his ear before moving away from his body. He has an energetic delivery, started with a quick leg lift and puts a lot of effort into throwing the ball. Cook showed a big fastball and in both innings he pitched he touched 94 mph. His fastball range was 90-94 for that two inning burst. With his aggressiveness and high effort, there is some question as to how long he can pitch in the low 90s, with any semblance of control. Cook not only flashes an above average fastball, but also has a slider that would appear to have a chance as an out pitch. He throws it nearly as aggressively as he does his fastball and sat in the 74-77 mph range with that pitch. Cook also showed a quality 78-79 mph split finger fastball that too is presently an out pitch, particularly when Cook is patient over the rubber and lets his arm live out front. He also showed a 72-75 mph change-up that does not fit as well yet in his repertoire, but he showed the willingness to use it. Cook has a strong arm and plus pitcher's type body, with two secondary pitches that flash as above average and can be used for outs. He is a D1 prospect and will get more than a few early looks in the spring time, with the likelihood that some crosscheckers even make a stop in to see him. The big key for him this spring will be to show that he can sustain his fastball in the middle and late innings, while also showing that he can harness his stuff in the zone.

Cole Cook is a 2007 RHP from Palisades Charter HS, residing in Los Angeles, CA, with a 6'6" 195 lb. frame. Cook was named to the top prospect team at the California Underclass Showcase, was written up in the Top Prospect list, and was invited to the National Showcase. Has a very good pitcher's body. He is long, lanky, pretty loose, and rangy. Pitches from a high 3/4 slot with a short backside arc. He brings a lot of knees and elbows at the hitter during his delivery. His arm has strength and is pretty loose though there is lots effort in his arm action. He came out very aggressive early and was showing an 89-91 mph FB in the 1st inning but was down to 85-88 in the 2nd. At times his command was good, with good tilt and life down in the zone. His SL velocity ranged from 76-78 mph. That pitch had sharp action and at times late action. He also showed a 68-71 mph CB with good spin and for good measure also revealed a 75-78 mph change-up with good diving action. Cook is a top tier D1 prospect and will also draw significant pro interest.
