Corey Estrada is a 6' 205 pound 2007 left handed pitcher and first baseman from American High School in Miramar, Florida. He has a big body with good thickness throughout. Corey throws from a low 3/4 arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. He gets a full hip turn and throws slightly across his body like a normal lefty does. He has a long arm action with not much effort in his delivery. Estrada like to work the outside half of the plate. His fastball has some late life on it at 78 mph and he gets lots of ground balls with it. His curveball is a very good pitch at 65 mph with tight 1/7 rotation. At the plate, Corey has good balance and very strong hands. His approach is very quiet while standing fairly erect. He really knows how to hit and keeps his hands away from his body during his swing. He has good bat speed and extension which give him his power from gap to gap. He makes solid contact to all fields with authority. Corey is a top level hitter who is also a good student with a 3.2 gpa.
