Correy Figueroa is a 2006 middle infielder from Tallahassee, FL with a medium and mature build at 5-10, 177 lbs. Figueroa ran the 60 in 6.85 and threw 82 mph during infield drills. He put on a show defensively during drills and the games, showing plus actions and range and very sure hands. He liked the big league infield in Atlanta and played with confidence. At the plate, Figueroa has a quick short line drive swing and is looking to pull the ball hard. He has good leverage at the point of contact and the ball jumps off his bat well. Figueroa showed us very good base running instincts, particularly with his jumps. Correy and his brother Cole have subltly different tools sets if you see them play enough, but both are big time players with bright baseball futures.

Corey and is twin brother Cole are probably a bit tired of being compared to each other, but the are not surprisingly very similar athletes. Corey is very strong and pretty thick in the lower half but still maintains very good body life and is a 6.9 runner in the 60. While he has the defensive actions and arm strength to play shortstop at this level and perhaps at the next level as well, he has apparently ceded shortstop to Cole and plays second base. Corey’s strength and physical maturity make him stand out at this point at that position. He has the present strength to generate bat speed with wood. He has a pro style set up with a reverse toe tap trigger and a rotational, strong swing with a flat, line drive swing plane. Corey will get his share of extra base hits with his bat speed and strength. He is also a good student.
