Cory Rasmus is a 2006 right handed pitcher/third baseman from Phenix City, AL with a medium build that shows strength at 6-0, 195 lbs, especially in the lower half. He has a sound delivery with good tempo to the plate and a good leverage point. Rasmus's arm works well and he generates excellent arm speed. He gets very good movement on a fastball that reached 91 mph at the National Showcase and has been much faster at other times. Rasmus likes to pitch aggressively inside to both right and left handed hitters but will occasionally leave the ball up and over the plate. Rasmus's curveball shows good sharpness and spin at 74 mph. When he gets on top of the ball he gets good downward break on the pitch. Rasmus's change up is also a quality pitch with some sink. Rasmus is an aggressive pitcher who attacks hitters but can still be a bit wild in the strike zone. He regularly plays an infield position when not pitching and this might distract him from his pitching at times. Rasmus is a very good hitter with power potential as a strong armed third baseman. He is an excellent student who has signed with Auburn.

Cory Rasmus is a solid strong 6'0/198 RHP/SS from Phenix City, AL. Cory is only a junior and he combined with 2005 brother Colby and Kasey Kiker to give Russell County HS perhaps the most talent trio of prospects in the county. He threw 89-92 mph off the mound in Tropicana Field with a plus change up in the 80-82mph range with sink. Cory has been up as high as 94 that we have seen. Add in a near average Big League curveball and you got a national top ’06 prospect on the hill. He also plays well in the field and hits with power, but that special arm is going to keep him on the hill in college or pro ball. Cory is a very good student who needs to score a notch higher on the ACT.
