Michael Couch is a 2008 RHP/OF with a 6'1'', 185 lb. frame from Menlo Park CA, who attends Bellarmine College Prep. He has a lean, strong, athletic build on a good frame. Couch is a projectable college pitching prospect and on top of that he is a very strong student. His arm works cleanly and easily from a hi 3/4 slot. The ball comes out of his hand easily. Couch's arm is good and has good body control, allowing him to get frontside extension, adding life to his pitches. His fastball was sneaky and topped at 84 mph, but there are mid-upper 80s in the near future. Couch spins the curveball well (73 mph), gets some depth and showed some feel of that pitch. He threw it for strikes and used it for outs, with the ability to put away hitters. At the plate he showed a line drive swing plane and a little life with the bat. Couch projects a bit and will be a steal for a college program.
