Danny Rams is a 2007 right hand hitting catcher/1st baseman from Gulliver Prep HS, residing in Miami, FL. He is a physical and mature bodied player with a broad 6'2" 218 lb. frame. Rams was ranked #6 among PG National Top 100 position players, due in part to a couple of his tools, which both rate on the plus side of the grading scale. In the batters box Rams is an intimidating presence. He takes up a lot of space and has a set-up that says he is looking to inflict damage on the ball. With his plus bat speed and physical strength, Rams has raw power that rates near the top end of any grading scale. He does a nice job keeping his hands inside and has a pretty short swing. His trigger works, allowing him to let the ball travel deep into the hitting zone, seeing each pitch longer. In some ways it seems as though Rams hunts pitches and knows what he wants to swing at. His arm is a plus and his hands show promise at times as a receiver. Rams is not going to be scouted or drafted because of his receiving and catch/throw skills, but having that arm and some presence behind the plate are strong positives. He did block and recover pretty well. In some ways, his skill set at this time in his development is similar to 2006 1st round pick Hank Conger. Rams posted a 7.18 60, laser timed. At this time, he is the top power arm/power bat combo of '07 prep catchers and that combo always draws very significant pro interest.

Danny Rams is a 2007 catcher/first baseman from Miami, FL with big thick strong build at 6-2, 220 lbs. He has done a lot of positive things with his body during the past year and baby fat has turned into muscle. Rams has some of the top arm strength in the country at 83 mph. He has a number of simple fundamental things he can do to quicken his throw times but he makes accurate throws and likes to throw to the bases behind runners. Rams is a surprisingly quick and agile athlete for his size and does a good job shifting and receiving the ball. The big tool, however, is raw power. Rams has more of it than any high school age player in the country. His bat speed is excellent and the ball just explodes off his bat. Rams hit a number of home runs in batting practice that easily cleared the 390' sign in left centerfield at Georgia Tech. Whatever phrase you want to use, "Light Tower", "Upper Deck" etc. applies to Rams. He can hit it out to any field and make the stadium look small. Rams is still a bit raw as a pure hitter but has shown consistent improvement in that regard as well. He's one of the top follows in the 2007 class and one of the few players in the country who when he comes to the plate, everyone stops to watch regardless of what's going on.

Danny Rams is a 2007 catcher from Miami, Florida, with an imposing high buttocks frame at 6'2", 220 lbs, but still looks very young in the face. Rams continues to impress scouts with his power arm and power bat combination. He has pro level arm strength from behind the plate with plus accuracy and solid pop times. His feet move very well for his size, and he shows the ability to block balls to either side. As good as Rams is defensively, hitting is what separates him from the rest. He has lightning quick bat speed with present MLB raw power. He hits from a closed stance and a slight head lean, and he attacks pitches. He pulls off at times, but he is still learning what pitches to turn on against top notch pitching. Rams is one of the best 2007 prospects in the country, and the sky is the limit for this kid.

Rams is a 6-2, 220 lb sophomore catcher from Miami. He vaulted up to the top levels of the prospect lists for 2007 players based on his performance at the National Underclass and we’ll write plenty of reports on him over the next few years. Rams has unparalleled pure bat speed for a player his age. His swing mechanics are raw and inconsistent but the ball just explodes off his bat. You don’t need to be a scout to see that when Rams hits different things happen. You don’t need to be a scout to see a high school sophomore hit 425’ bombs in batting practice that clear the centerfield fence or disappear into trees on the other sides of roads. What scouts will worry about for now is that Rams does have a body with some thickness in his lower half. On the bright side he has the sloping shoulders and high butt that scouts love in a prospect. He has no problems with quickness or flexibility at present but will have to work hard to maintain that. Rams, not surprisingly, has a cannon behind the plate, throwing 81 mph to second base (he threw 85 the next week) with pop times down to 1.83. His receiving skills are similar to his swing mechanics; raw, but you can see the pure athletic skills coming through. It will be very interesting to watch Rams develop over the next few years and we hope that he’s comfortable with the attention that he will receive from the baseball community. He’s shown that he’s a good student off the field and plays with enthusiasm and hustle on the field.
