2014 Summer Collegiate top prospect index
Great Lakes Collegiate League top prospect list
It
was a rather wild summer in the Great Lakes League, where the Licking
County Settlers, who finished the regular season with just a 19-18
overall record, stormed through the postseason and captured the
league's overall crown. The Lima Locos earned the distinction of
having the best regular season team with a 27-13 mark.
Mercer's
Kyle Lewis had a terrific summer offensively for the Locos, while on
the mound, North Carolina State's Cory Wilder blossomed into one of
the most intriguing prospects this summer, showing big-time stuff and
plenty of upside moving forward.

TOP
10 PROSPECTS
1.
Cory Wilder, rhp, Lima (North Carolina State/JR in 2015)
Wilder
has a chance to be one of the fastest rising prospects in college
baseball this coming spring. Wilder made just nine appearances and
tallied an earned-run average over six for the Wolfpack last season,
but the 6-foot-4, 205-pounder shined this summer, tallying a 2.64 ERA
in 44 1/3 innings, along with 60 strikeouts as compared to 16 walks.
The talented righty has a lot of potential with his fastball, which
sat 89-92 mph this summer, but got well into the mid-90s at times as
well. He also possesses an upper-70s to low-80s slider that is
considered a quality offering. Wilder still needs to prove himself at
N.C. State, but he's on the right path to do so.
