Defending Their Titles in 2015

PG Super25 Staff
This past summer, nine teams from 9u-17u made history by claiming the first ever Super25 National Championship in their respective age division.  In 2015, these championship teams will all be back to defend their titles, as confirmed by Perfect Game staff and the managers of each club.

"We are extremely excited to have all the defending champions back for this upcoming season," said Drake Browne, PG Super25 National Director.  "I have spoken with all the clubs and every one of them accepted an at-large berth to the 2015 National Championships."

The Midland Blackhawks out of Cincinnati, OH, who won the 9u championship in 2014, have chosen to accept their bid to the 2015 10u National Championship in Marietta, GA.

"We would like to thank PG for hosting a fantastic event," said manager Steve Sunderman.  "We had a blast and we plan on coming back to defend our title again next year."

The 2014 10u and 11u champions are also planning on heading to Marietta, GA to compete in the 2015 National Championships.  The 12u Champions, the East Coast Bombers out of Charleston, SC, will be attending the 13u National Championships in Fort Myers, FL.

Also making the trip to Florida will be the defending 13u Champions, the PSA Sox Red out of Ridgeland, MS.  This talented team took home last year's title in McKinney, TX, with an impressive showing that ended up earning them the #1 spot in the final PG travel team rankings.  The MVP of the 13u Super25, Austin Kelly, has already committed to play baseball at Mississippi State, making him one of only two 8th graders to ever get an offer from the Bulldogs staff.

The Tri-State Arsenal, who won the 14u and 15u titles in 2014, will be moving up in each age division to play in the 15u and 16u events in 2015.  Left-handed pitcher Jason Groome, who pitched the 15u Arsenal to the title this past summer, has recently committed to Vanderbilt and is currently ranked the #1 ranked LHP and #4 overall prospect in the 2016 class.

The 16u (East Cobb Astros) and 17u (Marucci Elite) champions have chosen to stay at those age groups for the 2015 season, as they are historically among the best teams in those divisions every summer.

Being the youngest age division with no defending champion to take the berth, PG has elected a "host team" for the 9u National Championship.  The Elite Gamers have been chosen to represent Georgia as they are one of the most dominant teams in this age division.  Last season, the team finished with a record of 67-6 while winning the AABC Roberto Clemente World Series.  The Gamers are also back-to-back USSSA World Series champions, having won 21 of the 30 tournaments they entered since starting in 2012.

Make sure your team requests an invite to a Regional or Super Qualifier to earn a berth and compete against these talented teams.  If you would like to see these teams in action, you can view any of the broadcasts from last year's championship games at www.ihigh.com/perfectgame with play-by-play commentary from Daron Sutton.
