9u Championship Recap: Day 5

Jordan Posway
The final four teams of the 2015 PG Super25 9u National Championship squared off Saturday morning at the East Cobb Baseball Complex in Marietta, Georgia. Following two hard-fought semifinal battles, the stage is set for an exciting national championship game.

The first semifinal game of the day pitted the Oklahoma Mudcats against the Carolina Heelz. The two squads exchanged the lead four times in a highly competitive semifinal contest. The Mudcats overcame a 6-4 deficit with three unanswered runs in the final two innings to steal the win out from under the Heelz. Tanner Norman’s walk-off double in the bottom of the sixth inning sealed the 7-6 victory and secured the Mudcats’ spot in the PG Super25 9u National Championship game.

While the first semi-final game was a nail-biter, the next match between The Elite Gamers-Garner and Full Potential Sports was much the opposite. Full Potential got on the board first with Aidan Goude’s first inning RBI single, but their offense would come to a screeching halt thanks to strong performances on the hill by Jansen Kenty and Ben Traxler. Landen Granger was unstoppable as he finished the game 4-4 from the plate with three singles and a home run in the Gamers’ 12-1 thrashing of Full Potential.

The 2015 PG Super25 9u National Championship will feature a marquee match-up between the Oklahoma Mudcats and the Elite Gamers-Garner. The two powerhouses will collide tomorrow morning at 10:00 on Field 7 with the 9u crown hanging in the balance.
