10u Championship Recap: Day 2

Jordan Posway
Teams aimed to gain some ground within their respective pools on day two of the PG Super25 10u National Championship. With the championship bracket on the horizon, every win is significant, and every loss is costly. Here’s a game-by-game recap of Saturday’s action:

Adonis Smith and Jamarie Brooks combined for a no-hitter in the Otc Xplosion’s 14-0 rout of the CBC Elite. The Xplosion’s aces received a copious amount of run support to say the least. Nicolas Senese sparked the offensive fireworks with a two-run bomb in the first inning, and he would finish the day with a game-high three RBIs.

The 643 DP Cougars never recovered after falling into a 5-2 hole after the third inning against Tri-State Arsenal-McAdams. The Arsenal piled on five runs in the first three innings which provided them enough cushion to hold on for the 6-4 win. Tri-State Arsenal remains undefeated thus far in the tournament.

The Banditos found their footing late in their 9-1 triumph over the Pro Player Hurricanes, garnering eight runs in the final two innings. The Canes could only manage one hit against Caleb Castle and Tyler Garritano, who combined for five masterful innings. Ryan Rusk and Ross Donaldson spearheaded the Banditos’ late rally with back-to-back triples in the bottom of the third.

Since dropping their first game to Tri-State Arsenal-McAdams on Friday, the Midland Blackhawks have been red-hot. They continued to wreak havoc against the CBC Elite with a sixteen-run spectacle. AJ Ewing led the offensive charge with four RBIs courtesy of a bases-loaded triple and a sacrifice fly. After an eight-run second inning, the Blackhawks cruised to a convincing 16-3 victory. It was another rough day for the CBC Elite, who are still searching for their first win of the tournament.

The Tallahassee Heat Black topped the Bronx Bombers 9-3 behind the arm of Will Jowers, who pitched a perfect three innings from the mound en route to his team’s second straight victory. While Jowers rendered the Bombers’ offense useless, his team provided him nine runs in the opening three innings. The Bombers tallied three late runs, but they simply could not dig themselves out of their nine-run deficit.
