11u Championship Recap: Day 1

The PG Super25 11u National Championship commenced on Thursday in Marietta, Georgia. Fourteen teams from all corners of the country gathered at the East Cobb Baseball Complex to start the first day of pool play. Here’s the rundown of the action from day one:

The East Cobb Astros jumped out to a three run lead following the first inning, but they ran out of gas down the stretch in their defeat at the hands of the BC Phenom. Nick Martinez jolted the Phenom’s offense with a two-run homer in the second inning. Generoso Romano and Justin Garcia picked up where Martinez left off with back-to-back dingers in the ensuing inning as the Phenom clobbered the Astros 9-5.

The Mizuno TGBA Aces finished strong with six runs in the final two innings of their 8-2 triumph over the Banditos. Parker Brosius gave the Banditos’ pitchers fits with a single and a pair of home runs on a perfect 3-3 day from the plate.

The Banditos would drop their second game in a row to the East Cobb Braves. Xavier Arias and the Banditos rallied back from a two-run deficit to tie the game at three, only to watch the Braves score the winning run off of an error in the bottom of the sixth.

Errors plagued Chatt Valley in their 7-3 loss to the Midland Warriors. Defensive miscues added two unearned runs to the Warriors’ total. Brayden Fraasman sparked Midland’s offense with a three-run triple in the bottom of the first inning.

A late surge by the East Cobb Academy Colt 45’s left the Dallas Tigers-Polk in the dust 7-1 on Field 4. Benjamin Hamacher and Sutton Smith got East Cobb's offense rolling with a pair of RBI singles in the fourth inning. Elijah Crawford’s two-run double in the fifth was the exclamation point on a dominant win.

However, the Colt 45’s would be brought back down to earth by a 7-6 defeat at the hands of the Titans Baseball Blue. The Titans scored six of their seven runs in the final two innings. A sacrifice fly and a pair of RBI singles set the stage for Joshua Fitzpatrick, who would bring home the game-winning run with a single to right field.

Vipers Baseball dismantled the Columbus Sharks 14-0 in a short four inning contest. Conor Ellingsworth did his damage early and often as he belted a couple of homers in the opening two innings. Lorenzo Carrier and Mason Drummond also went yard as the Vipers rolled over the Sharks.

After trading runs for four innings, ProScouting Elite MVP and the Dallas Texans Lowe broke even at nine runs apiece. The Texans exploded for seven runs in the first inning, but they ran out of gas down the stretch. ProScouting Elite MVP picked up the pace after a slow start, however, neither team would claim the victory.
