After Sunday’s slate of quarterfinal match-ups at the East
Cobb Baseball Complex, the PG Super25 12u National Championship has become a
four-team race. Here’s a quick recap of the action from the round of eight:
Jacob Danna was impressive on both sides of the ball in the Banditos’ 6-2 quarterfinal
victory over the Dirtbags-Black. The Banditos’ ace imposed his will against the
Dirtbags with six strikeouts in a complete game effort. The Banditos never
trailed after Danna’s RBI single in the third inning.
Field 6 featured a thrilling pitcher’s duel between the Indiana Baseball Club’s
Ethan Wood and the Houston Heat’s Anthony Giannette, but Wood’s squad would
prevail 4-1 in a tight six-inning contest. Indiana’s ace struck out five in a
complete game two-hitter. Alex Richter was instrumental in Indiana’s
quarterfinal win as he racked up two RBIs on a single and a sacrifice fly.
A single swing of the bat by Slate Alford was the difference in the Dulins
Dodgers’ 6-1 triumph over the North Florida Gators. Alford broke the game wide
open with a grand slam in the bottom of the fourth inning. The
12u home run derby champ, Blaze Jordan, also went yard as the Dodgers advanced
to the semifinals.
The East Cobb Astros emerged victorious after a highly competitive six-inning
battle against the Alabama Elite. Ivan Reap had a perfect 3-3 day from the dish
and was a home run shy of the cycle. DJ Radtke struck out seven batters in
four innings as the Astros edged the Elite 3-1.
The four remaining teams will commence the semifinal round of the championship
bracket tomorrow morning at 11:15. The Dulins Dodgers will battle the Banditos
on Field 4, while the East Cobb Astros will clash with the Indiana Baseball
Club on Field 6.
