WWBA World Underclass Championship  --  Day 2

ALCS Note:  I’m not sure how many people actually stayed up to watch the end of Tampa’s 9-8 win over the Red Sox last night, but it was a bit painful watching Scott Kazmir and Josh Beckett throw straight 90 mph fastballs to anxious hitters during the early innings.  It’s telling how 200+ innings affects Major League pitchers, and neither Beckett and Kazmir have been completely healthy this year.  I vividly recall watching both of them sit at 94-95 mph when they were in high school.

Nine teams have compiled perfect 3-0 records after two days of play at the WWBA World Underclass Championships in Fort Myers.  However, only two of those teams, All-American Prospects Blue and the KC Royals Scout Team/Midland Braves have clinched spots in the 16 team playoff bracket.

Other undefeated teams include East Cobb Astros Orange, Farrah’s Builders, Dirtbags, FTP Black Racers, New Jersey Super 17, Central Florida Knights and South Florida Bandits ’10.

The winners of the 13 pools automatically qualify for the playoffs, which will start at approximately 4 pm Sunday afternoon.  The balance of the playoff teams will come from the top 3 second place pool finishers.
