PG National moved to Fort Myers

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Perfect Game National Showcase and PG Junior National Showcase, originally scheduled to be held at the Metrodome in Minneapolis, have been moved to City of Palms Stadium in Fort Myers, Fla. the spring training home of the Boston Red Sox, Perfect Game officials have announced.

The two premier showcases will still take place June 14-19 as originally scheduled, with the Junior National June 14-15 and the National June 16-19.

The change of venues was necessitated by the collapse of the Metrodome roof Dec. 12 following a heavy snowfall in the Twin Cities. The Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission is expected to conclude the entire roof will need to be replaced at the facility, a project that would take at least six months to complete.

The Fort Myers metropolitan area serves as host to numerous Perfect Game events, including the World Showcase and World Open Showcase, BCS Finals and WWBA tournaments.

The PG National Showcase is considered the “crown jewel” of all showcases. The event attracts the nation’s top prospects, scouts and college recruiters each year, and annually produces more 1st round and early round MLB Draft picks than any other event in amateur baseball.
