Hawaii Collegiate League top 10 prospects (list)
Perfect Game Summer Collegiate top prospect coverage

In its first seven years of operation, the Hawaii Collegiate League was known for its stability and progressive approach in skillfully incorporating top high-school prospects into the league’s talent mix.

But the league appeared to take a step back in 2012 on both counts as the number of teams dwindled for the first time, from six to four, and high-school talent was non-existent. In each of the past two years, Perfect Game’s list of the league’s top prospects included four recently-graduated prep players.

The distinguishing theme of this summer’s HCL prospect crop is all the pitching talent assembled by the Oahu Paddlers. In all, Paddlers pitchers occupy the top three spots on the accompanying list, including rising Michigan State sophomore righthander Mick Van Vossen at No. 1, and four of the top six, including rising Cal State Northridge junior righthander Harley Holt (No. 6), the league’s pitcher of the year. Despite the team’s obvious advantage on the mound, Oahu finished second during the regular season and was quickly eliminated in post-season play.
