Earlier in the week, we profiled Southern California’s John Paul Crawford and discussed the major question that scouts have about high school shortstops in Perfect Game’s ongoing Draft Focus series.

Today, we’ll address the other standout shortstop in the 2013 high school class, Florida’s Oscar Mercado, currently ranked No. 8 overall in the Perfect Game 2013 class rankings. While Mercado and Crawford share a similar national ranking and the same first round draft projection, they are two very different players in both background and athleticism.
