It would have been virtually impossible to be a scout and not have seen San Diego high school left-hander Ian Clarkin throw sometime last spring and summer, as he was pretty much pitching continuously from the beginning of his high school season through the IBAF World 18u Championships in early September. Even then he didn’t hang up his cleats, coming back to play first base and designate hitter at the WWBA World Championship in October.
