One thing that is certain about Ryder Jones, the No. 54 prospect in the Perfect Game class of 2013 rankings, is that he won’t have any trouble adjusting to baseball travel and life on the road at the next level, whether that be collegiately at Stanford or as a professional following next month’s draft.

As the son of first-year Appalachian State head coach Billy Jones, Ryder Jones can trace his travels from Washington to Oregon to Arizona to North Carolina to Oklahoma and back to North Carolina during his 18 years, which coincides with his father’s coaching career. Billy Jones was an assistant at Oklahoma State from 2005 to 2012 before taking the Appalachian States head job last fall, necessitating Ryder’s transfer from his Oklahoma high school to Watauga High School in North Carolina for his senior season.
