Monday, June 03, 2013
RAPIDS, Iowa (June 3, 2013) -- Perfect Game Baseball is pleased to
announce the creation of the Perfect Game Super25, a nationwide
series of qualifying, regional and super regional tournaments that
will culminate in the crowning of a true National Champion in each of
the 9u through 17u age divisions.
will set the Perfect Game Super25 apart from other national
tournaments is its emphasis on the concept of "TEAM." Every
team in each age group must submit a roster before the start of play
at every PG Super25 qualifier tournament and maintain and adhere to that roster throughout each step of tournament play. All teams
must play in a qualifier before competing in a super regional.
Perfect Game Super25 mission is simply to keep baseball a 'Team
Sport' for decades to come,” said Perfect Game founder Jerry Ford.
"By keeping teams together from the qualifying tournaments
through the regional tournaments and onto the National Championships,
the Perfect Game Super25 emphasizes team commitment, integrity,
chemistry and the reward of winning as a team.
amateur baseball teams will have the opportunity to become the No. 1
team in their region and represent that region in the Perfect Game
Super25 National Championship."
PG Super25 map will consist of 20 regions throughout the United
States and the Caribbean. All teams must play in a PG Super25
qualifier tournament within their designated region or a bordering
region before they can advance to their respective regional
will advance to the regional tournament based on their performance at
the qualifier. Teams are encouraged to participate in more than one
qualifier in their attempt to advance on to regional play. By doing
so, teams will be playing more games that matter, games that will
move them closer to attaining a spot in the Perfect Game Super25
will also be five (5) super regional tournaments in each age group --
West, South, Midwest, Southeast and Northeast. These tournaments are
open to any team that played in a PG Super25 qualifier tournament
regardless of their finish at that qualifier. The super regional
tournaments act as a "last chance" opportunity for teams to
advance to their respective PG Super25 National Championship.
tournament play will begin in the fall of 2013; most of the regional
and super regional tournaments will begin in late spring of 2014. The
tournaments will be scheduled so they won't interfere with any other
Perfect Game tournaments already on the schedule.
20 regional champions and five super regional champions in each age
group will contend for national championships at five sites --
Nashville, Tenn. (9u/11u), Charleston, S.C. (10u/12u), McKinney,
Texas (13u), Fort Myers, Fla. (14u/15u/16u) and Phoenix, Ariz. (17u)
-- in July, 2014.
will be all-tournament teams named at each step along the way. Every
championship team will receive a custom-made championship trophy and
team members in the 14u through 17u age-groups will receive a
specially designed championship ring they can treasure the rest of
their lives. The younger age-groups (9u-13u) will receive individual
medals and every roster member of each age-group championship team
will receive special caps and T-shirts.
will be several other events being offered during championship week
at each venue. There will be a Classic Tourney for each age group,
which is a single-elimination tournament for the 17 teams that don't
advance to the round-of-eight. There will also be skills events -- a
Home Run Challenge and Fastest Man Competition -- held between
pool-play and playoff elimination rounds at each venue.
All-Star Game will be played at the PG Super25 16u and 17u National
Championships, to be contested right before the national championship
games are played; the All-Star games will include only players not
involved in the championship game. All championship games for each
age-group and the All-Star games are scheduled to be televised.
Perfect Game Super25 tournament series will offer an excellent
opportunity for young players at nine critical age groups to find
enjoyment in the game of baseball while experiencing it strictly from
a "TEAM" concept, with the added benefit of pursuing a true
National Championship. It's certain that parents and coaches will
enjoy the experience as well.
