Sometimes we want too much for all of our prospects to look like prototypes. We want our righthanded pitchers to be 6-foot-4 and we like our lefties just as projectable. But, sometimes we just can’t have it all. That’s why sometimes big leaguers look like Dustin Pedroia or Tim Lincecum instead of Robinson Cano and Clayton Kershaw. Texas Longhorns’ ace lefthander Dillon Peters may not look like what we’ve come to think big league pitchers should look like, but he sure does pitch like one. And, you can question his physical profile all day long, but if he was 6-foot-4, the conversation may be how high he’d go in the first round instead what round he might go in.
