If a scout had to pick only one college baseball team to watch in 2014, a very large percentage of them would likely choose to spend their time following the University of Virginia. Led by middle of the lineup talent like Derek Fisher and Brandon Downes, and also led by a pitching staff anchored by elite 2015 draft talent, Nathan Kirby, it might be easy to overlook someone like Nick Howard. But, so far this spring, he’s been showing scouts many of the same things that opened eyes late in the summer in the Cape Cod League.
