For the second consecutive week there is a new No. 1 team in the nation. Defending Florida state champion Venice fell out of the top spot after suffering their first loss of the season on Friday night. They didn't fall far, landing at No. 5, as their loss came to undefeated Sarasota, who climbs eight spots this week, coming in at No. 4.

Archbishop McCarthy, who was named the 2011 PG High School National Champion, seiezed the opportunity of Venice's loss in front of them, and moved up from No. 2 to the top spot in the nation. The Mavericks cruised to two easy victories this week, winning by a combined score of 22-2.

Hamilton (Ariz.) is the biggest climber of the week, entering the rankings at No. 23 after winning a 1-0 battle over previously No. 20 Greenway (Ariz.) as part of a highly impressive week which began with a late comeback win in a game where the opposing starting pitcher was the state's top ranked right hander, Ryan Castellani. Greenway lands at No. 25 this week, while O'Connor gives Arizona a third representative as they re-enter the rankings at No. 46 after a 3-0 week that started with a walk-off win over previously ranked Bishop Gorman (Nev.).

Other new additions this week include: No. 34 Poway (Calif.),  No. 45 Tampa Jesuit (Fla.) and No. 49 Fayetteville (Ark.).
