Stew Merdian (2016, SS/RHP, Galax HS, VA) struck out four batters in two innings of work. Merdian sat 83-85 MPH with his FB and showed a knuckleball at 64-66 MPH. Merdian's arm worked well and he had smooth mechanics with a clean release and quick arm.
Chase Chandler (2016, RHP/MIF/3B/OF, North Surry HS, NC) features a low 3/4 arm slot with a loose arm action and quick arm through release. Chandler's FB has nice armside run and sink and sat 82-84 MPH and he used a tight SL at 69 MPH to close out batters, which led to five strikeouts. Chandler commanded both pitches down in the zone.
Drew Donathan (2017, RHP/C, Charlotte Christian HS, NC) is a max effort guy off the mound with a short arm action. Donathan engages his lower half and creates good arm side run on his FB that topped at 84 MPH.
Austin Beck (2017, OF, North Davidson HS, NC) went 2-3 in the game and showed off his aggressiveness on the bases. Beck is a high motor player that can use his plus speed to affect the game. He got out of the box quick and can get to full speed very quickly.
Andrew Orzel (2016, 3B/SS/RHP, Archmere Academy, DE) went 1-2 with a hard-hit line drive single to RF. Orzel displayed great plate coverage with his swing after starting with an open stance.
Canyon McWilliams (2016, 1B/OF, Shaker Heights HS, OH) picked up a single and went 1-2 in the game. McWilliams is looking to drive the low pitches and can pull those balls to RF.
Brooks Lucas (2017, RHP/2B/OF, Greenville HS, SC) came up to the plate with a good approach resulting in a 1-2 day as he picked up a single on a well-hit ball to CF. Lucas looks to send the ball back up the middle consistantly.
