Batting Practice Highlights

The most impressive power display of the event came from a surprise source. There were several well known prospects coming into the event who would have been the likely suspects to put on the most impressive power show, and several of them lived up to expectations. But it was 2016 OF/CIF Gabe Barthelmass (Laguna Niguel, CA) who stole the show. He crushed three home runs during his ten swings with several more deep shots that landed on the warning track.

2017 IF Jayson Gonzalez (Azusa, CA) was one of the usual suspects and he did not disappoint. The physical right hander showed an impressive combination of loose strength, bat speed and athleticism in his swing and he has a high power ceiling and a potential to develop his hit tool, all of the ingredients are already beginning to show at a young age.

2016 C Nolan Collett (Glendora, CA) showed a good gap to gap approach, consistently squaring up hard line drives to the center of the field with a well controlled aggressive swing that he repeated well.

2016  OF Cameron Landreth (Los Angeles, CA) generated solid bat speed from a short compact swing with good strength at contact and he projects for increased strength gains which should allow him to further develop as a hitter.

2017 MIF/OF Tristan Hanoian (Costa Mesa, CA) showed a smooth well balanced swing with a line drive swing plane that he controlled well and drove the ball to all fields.

2018 MIF CJ Brown (Jamol, CA) showed advanced polish for his age, with a sound swing and interesting tools to project upon with a very solid round.

2016 3B Noah Prewett (Calabasas, CA) showed good carry from his line drive swing and showed a consistent repeatable swing.

2017 C Hunter Isbell (San Diego, CA) showed surprising present power for his size via leverage and extension and he has advanced bat speed. As he gets stronger and becomes even more efficient with his swing he has the potential to develop significant power.

2018 RHP/3B Cade Brown (Cardiff, CA) showed big power potential, he is very strong for a rising freshman and uses that strength well in his uppercut swing.

2016 1B/RHP Mitchell Allen (Phoenix, AZ) showed big pullside power, lofting a couple of home runs over the left field fence.

2016 1B Phillip Quartaro (Bell Canyon, CA) showed good bat speed and good carry off of his bat thanks to strong hands, and his round was highlighted by a long home run out of left field.

2015 OF Charles Grant-DeBose (Torrance, CA) showed good bat speed and created leverage in his swing to generate good carry and he projects for significant strength gains and has shown very promising all around development progress over the past year and could be emerging as one of SoCal's more significant HS OF prospects for 2015.

2015 OF Daniel Priwin (Sugar Land, TX) had a very impressive round. He generates very good bat speed and drives the ball with very strong forearms, he crushed the ball to all fields in one of the best rounds of the event.

2015 OF Ryan Eastburn (Harbor City, CA) showed good bat speed and made hard contact at a good clip in spite of the moving parts to his swing, he projects well physically and has a chance to hit as he refines his swing.

2015 C/OF Jacob Davies (Encino, CA) showed good strength at contact with a short swing and homered on the final pitch of his round.

2015 MIF Nick Guaragna (Scottsdale, AZ) showed good bat speed with an aggressive swing that generated pullside pop.

2015 1B Kyle Stewart (Ladera Ranch, CA) looked comfortable taking BP on his home field, showing good strength generated power.
