2015 Jr. National

Green v. Navy Highlights
6/14/2015 5:31:35 PM

Kyle Hurt (2017 RHP, Rancho Santa Fe, CA) was extremely impressive in his two innings on the mound. The Southern California commit struck out the five of the six batters that he faced. Hurt touched 91 mph with his fastball and worked comfortably in the 87-90 mph range.  He showed advanced command of the pitch and also had great feel for a deceptive low-80s changeup with fade and dive below the zone.

Kale Ledford (2017 3B, Oxford, GA) made loud contact, barreling an 85 mph belt-high fastball with authority to left center field.

Zach Sehgal (2017 SS, La Jolla, CA) also struck the ball sharply, picking up an RBI with a hard-hit fly ball to deep left center field.

Daniel Ritcheson (2017 RHP, Chatsworth, CA) worked a clean, scoreless two innings. The righty ran his fastball up to 89 mph and worked comfortably and consistently in the 85-87 mph range.  He showed solid command of the offering and struck out two batters. He also showed a feel for three offspeed pitches in a low-80s changeup, upper-70s slider with two-plane break and late tilt, and a low-70s curveball with more depth.

Jackson Rutledge (2017 RHP, High Ridge, MO) struck out two batters in his two innings of work. The long-limbed, lean right handed pitcher projects to get stronger, and worked in the 82-85 mph range with his fastball, which had good plane and angle from his high ¾ arm slot.

Cordell Dunn (2017 C, Olive Branch, MS) showed good bat speed, strength, and quick wrists in driving an 85 mph fastball on the inner half of the plate off of the wall in left center field for a hard-struck double.

Similarly, another catcher, Shane McGuire (2017 C, Kent, WA) also showed good hands and strength, turning on a fastball and driving it down near the right field line for a well-struck double.

Austin Weiermiller (2017 LHP, Milton, GA) ran his fastball up to 87 mph, and worked comfortably in the 84-86 mph range. The compactly-built lefty uses a hip turn delivery with some deception, and locates better to his armside. He also mixes in a sweeping breaking ball with solid depth and a changeup in the mid-70s. He struck out three batters in his two innings.
