2015 Jr. National

Gold v. Green (Game 2) Highlights
6/15/2015 9:15:48 AM

Justin Bullock (2017 RHP, Creedmoor, NC) struck out four, including all three of the batters he faced in his second inning of work.  The lean, athletic righthander has a loose, whippy arm and used his 86-89 mph very effectively, getting hitters to expand and chase pitches up and out of the strike zone.  He also mixed in a quality low-70s breaking ball with 12/6 shape and tight spin.

Shane Roberts (2017 RHP, Jupiter, FL) struck out two in his two innings of work. The projectable right handed pitcher ran his fastball up to 86 mph and showed some feel for locating the pitch to his armside. Roberts also flashed some developing feel for a changeup and breaking ball with 10/4 shape.

Matt Oldham (2017 C, Pittsboro, NC) showed that he could put a charge into a ball. The left handed hitter showed some juice to the pullside with an RBI double over the head of the right fielder on an 85 mph fastball that as left up and over the middle of the plate.

Jordon Adell (2017 RHP, Louisville, KY) was very impressive in workouts yesterday and his athleticism is also evident on the mound. The tightly-wound 6-foot-3, 200 pound righty has an up-tempo delivery and fast arm. His fastball topped out at 89 mph, working more consistently in the 86-87 mph range and he flashed a quality curveball with tight spin, good depth, and a 12/6 shape.  He struck out three in his two innings of work.

David Vazquez (2017 SS, Hialeah, FL) made a very nice play at shortstop, ranging to his left and showing a quick transfer, and solid arm strength on a groundball hit up the middle. Vasquez showed the ability to keep his hands back on offspeed and served a pitch on the outer half of the plate for an RBI single to right center field.

Garrett Hunter Ruth (2017 RHP, Gainesville, FL) showed an ability to play with the depth and shape of his breaking ball. At times he used an offering with more depth and traditional curveball shape, but he also mixed in a pitch with shorter tilt. He also mixed in a mid-80s fastball that topped out at 86 mph. In doing so he was able to keep hitters off balance in his scoreless two inning appearance in which he struck out three.

Nicholas Storz (2017 RHP, Brooklyn, NY) has made strides since first picking up pitching last year. The physical 6-foot-6, 235 pound righty looked more fluid on the mound.  He fastball, which features good life to the armside and sink when located down in the zone, was up to 91 mph and sat comfortably in the 87-89 range over his two innings of work. He also showed improved feel for his breaking ball in his second inning pitched, striking out the side in order.

D.L. Hall (2017 LHP, Valdosta, GA) came out and showed the best velocity of the showcase so far. The athletic southpaw touched 92 mph with his fastball and worked more consistently in the 88-90 mph range.  He had some early issues locating the ball down in the zone, but he also showed the ability to mix in a sharp, sweeping breaking ball in the mid-70s and finished his two inning stint with four strikeouts.

Jose Ciccarello (2017 SS, Tampa, FL) gave the Green Team it’s first hit of the game in the bottom the eighth inning. The right handed hitter showed good feel for the barrel and got extended to drive a middle-in fastball to left field for a double.
