2015 Jr. National

Navy v. Columbia Blue (Game 2) Highlights
6/15/2015 11:50:26 AM

Tyler Ahearn (2017 RHP, Jupiter, FL) threw two hitless innings, showing a fastball up to 90 mph and consistently in 87-89 mph range.  Ahearn also showed solid feel for a low-70s curveball with a lean, athletic build he projects very well going forward as he continues to add strength and gain experience.

Matt Schroer (2017 RHP, Phoenix, AZ) also projects very well. The 6-foot-4, 180 pound righthander is committed to LSU and he also shows solid feel for his curveball, an offering with 11/5 shape and good depth.  He ran his fastball up to 88 mph early, before settling more in the 84-86 mph range. Schroer struck out two in his two innings.

Heliot Ramos (2017 OF, Maunabo, PR) showed a strong and accurate arm in the game. He charged in aggressively on a single out to center field, worked through the ball well and delivered a strike to home plate to cut down a run and earn an outfield assist.

Mark Vierling (2017 SS, St. Louis, MO) displayed an advanced feel at the plate. He had two hits in the game and he did a good job to work with a fastball on the outer half and serve it down the RF line for a double.

Mason Doolittle (2017 C, Jupiter, FL) showed off quick hands and solid bat speed. In his first at bat Doolittle barreled fastball over the inner-half of the plate and drove it with authority into left field for a single. Later in the game, Doolittle again capitalized on a fastball left over the plate with a well-struck double to left center field.

Jack Leftwich (2017 RHP, Maitland, FL) pounded the strike zone in his two innings of work.  The 6-foot-3, 205 pound righty projects well and has advanced fastball command, showing a consistent ability to throw down in the zone with the pitch that ranged from 83-86 mph.  He also shows solid feel for a low-70s curveball with good depth and late bite. He struck out three.

Donovan Benoit (2017 OF, Pensacola, FL) has performed well at the plate, and he also shows some tools on the mound. Benoit is a long, lean 6-foot-3, 185 pounds and he ran his fastball up to 87 mph, working consistently in the 84-86 range. He also showed developin feel for a straight changeup and a curveball in his two scoreless innings.
