Cardinal Vs. Dark Green Highlights
10/18/2015 10:52:44 AM

Impressive pitching performances and solid defensive play from both teams led to a 0-0 tie after ten innings between the Dark Green and Cardinal teams

Brad Cooley (2017 RHP, Castle Rock, CO) recorded eight strikeouts in only three innings of work on the mound for the Green team.  Cooley has solid mechanics and a big breaking CB that got a lot of swing and misses.

Giovanni (Gino) Palomba (2017 OF, Lawrenceville, GA) did not allow a hit in his two innings on the mound while showing good command of all pitches. Palomba's FB was up to 80 MPH and he has feel for a CB that he throws at 70 MPH.

Scott Elgin (2018 RHP, Hoover, AL) was dominant for the Cardinal team, striking out four and not allowing a single hit in two innings of work.  Throwing from a 3/4 arm angle, Elgin was up to 84 MPH with riding life and arm side run on his FB.  He also showed good feel and command of a sharp-breaking CB that was very tough on both LH and RH hitters.

Nicholas Sadd (2017 RHP, Atlanta, GA) was also a big factor in the shutout performance, recording five strikeouts over three innings.  Sadd was 82-84 MPH, topping out at 85, with his FB that also had good run and sink movement.

Xavier Cruz (2016 C, Acworth, GA) showed ability to square up pitches, hit the ball hard, and control the running game defensively from behind the plate.
