-Dutchtown will start 2012 RHP Jacob Waguespack in their 7:30 match vs. Holy Cross. Waguespack has a long, projectable frame and very good mechanics. His fastball has been clocked in the mid 80s and he has good break on a 12/6 curveball. Dutchtown also features talented underclassmen Troy Lewis, Mason Nickens, and Cole Stapler.
-Byrd will start 2012 RHP Matthew Sharp as they take on Central at Walker High School. Central features 2012 INF Seth Stevens, who has started the season with a bang, and was featured in our Who’s Hot.
-Another prospect to watch is 2011 Sam Houston catcher Evan Powell, an LSU commit ranked 184 in the 2011 class. Powell has shown a polished hitting approach and a strong swing, along with compact defensive actions with pop times around 1.90
