Royal vs. Steel Highlights >>

Brad Demco (2016 OF, Austin, TX) was the star of the game for Royal.  He led off the game with a home run and also struck out 4 hitters in 2 scoreless innings, pitching in the 85-89 mph range with a big breaking curveball that missed bats.

Mason Hopkins (2018 RHP, Sinton, TX) was impressive for a freshman, showing command and feel for 3 pitches while working in the 77-81 mph range and featuring a very nice change up.  He's 6-1/155 and will keep getting better as he gets stronger.

The Royal team swung the bats well all game and ended up winning 6-0.  Players with a pair of singles included Zach Fernandez (2018 OF, Tyler, TX), Jeff Hatton (2017 2B, Fulshear,TX), Jackson Molinaro (2017 C, Cedar Park, TX) and  Trevor Reed (2019 C, Cypress, TX).

Dylan Berg (2019 RHP, Houston, TX) threw very well for a '19, showing a sound and low effort delivery with a fastball that topped out at 79 mph and a curveball that had good depth and some 12/6 shape to it.

White vs. Teal Highlights >>

6/6/2015 6:25:20 PM

James Ferguson (2016 LHP, Fort Worth, TX) pitched three scoreless innings for Teal, striking out 4 hitters and allowing only 1 hit.  He worked in the 83-86 mph range from a 3/4's arm slot and has some velocity projection with some mechanical adjustments.  Ferguson also threw a mid-70's sweeping curveball that had good depth at times.

Corben Henry (2016 OF, Alvin, TX), who also showed lots of bat speed and a nice right handed swing in BP and the game, put in a strong performance on the mound, topping out at 83 mph while striking out 4 hitters in 2 innings.

Zachary Baker (2016 2B, Mesquite, TX) hit the ball hard twice for a single and a line out to left field and also stole a pair of bases.

Nicholas Garza (2016 3B, Humble, TX) showed nice all around hitting tools and had a pair of singles.

Connor Noland (2018 RHP, Greenwood, AR), who was featured in the BP blog, was just as impressive on the mound, especially for a freshman.  He threw 4 shutout innings, allowing only 1 hit while striking out 5 hitters.  He pitched in the 83-86 mph range and showed a big breaking 71 mph curveball.

Hudson Fife (2016 OF, Spicewood, TX) is a 5-9/178 primary outfielder but he showed nice arm strength while striking out 4 hitters in two innings, pitching in the 84-87 mph range.  He also had an RBI single in 3 at-bats.

Scott Clark (2016 C, Irving, TX) is a big and strong 6-2/205 build and a short and simple right handed swing.  He squared the ball up twice today for singles.

Rustin Hays (2016 MIF, Hector, AR) showed very good bat speed and strength in his swing on a triple he hit in game.  It was a hard line drive that carried over the center fielders head.  Hays has solid hitting tools.
Batting Practice Highlights >>

6/6/2015 6:07:13 PM

It's always nice to see a catcher who can hit and Keelyn Johnson (2016 C, Pineville, LA) certainly took a nice batting practice in the first group this morning.  He has a nice stride into contact with good extension through contact and plenty of left centerfield power.

Grant McDaniel (2016 OF, Victoria, TX) is only 5-foot-8 but has a loose right handed swing with a short and quick hand path and lots of bat speed.  He squared up almost everything and had nice jump on his line drives.

Ethan Blinka (2017 3B, Somerville, TX) is listed at 5-11/210 but has a solid well proportioned build that doesn't seem heavy, just strong.  That strength translates well into a smooth and extended right handed swing, that projects lots of power.

Alekzander Brown (2017 3B, McKinney, TX) looks like he should be a 4-star football prospect at 6-4/250 with light athleticism on his feet.  He tells us that he quit football this year to concentrate on baseball, though.  He'll have to firm up his body a bit but he has a sweet right handed swing that is compact and under control.  He probably hit 9 straight balls right on screws during his round.

Joey Gennusa (2016 OF, Kingwood, TX) has some strength gain to do but he has a loose left handed swing from the left side and made consistent hard line drive pull contact throughout his round.

Robert Malone (2016 SS, Houston, TX) ran a 6.56 and showed a good arm from shortstop, so we know he's a good athlete.  He also showed he's a very good hitter, with a mechanically sound swing with nice quick hands to the ball and solid line drive contact.

Ben Ostrominski (2016 SS, Round Rock, TX) is another shortstop who graded out very well in the defensive drills then impressed in batting practice as well.  His swing is a bit timing intensive but he has lots of lift and bat speed through the ball and is going to hit with some power.

Micah Lloyd (2016 MIF, Plano, TX) is only 5-7/160 but he's a switch hitter with lots of bat speed from both sides of the plate.  Usually a player that size could be discouraged from having some lift in his swing but Lloyd drove it deep up the gaps from both sides of the plate and did it with little effort.

Trey Smith (2015 SS, Cypress, TX) is a senior without a college commitment who ran a 7.03, threw 85 in the infield and posted a 9/9 grade batting practice with lots of right handed bat speed, plus plenty of projection in his 6-2/175 build.  Those are all college level tools and college coaches in Texas should take note.

Trevor Grabarkewitz (2015 OF, Luling, TX) is another senior who college coaches need to take quick notice of if they like 6-3/180 outfielder who runs a 6.6 sixty and who hits bombs, especially when he gets his left foot down in time.

Note:  Both Smith and Grabarkewitz are solid students who have NCAA qualifier grades and test scores per the Perfect Game database.

Brad Demco (2016 OF, Austin, TX) is a left handed thrower, right handed hitter with a simple swing approach and a nice loose, extended swing with bat speed.

Jackson Nichols (2016 C, Nacogdoches, TX) hit two BP home runs and generally made the field look pretty small a few times with his pull power.  His swing approach is balanced and simple and he showed some high average hit tools as well.

Corben Henry (2016 OF, Alvin, TX) does a very nice job of staying inside the ball without becoming obsessive about it, which enables him to turn and drive the pitches he's capable of with compromising his bat speed.  He had a solid round of hard line drives to all fields.

Connor Noland (2018 RHP, Greenwood, AR) is a freshman primary pitcher who is going to have to be a very good pitching prospect to surpass his hitting tools.  He plays left field and third base in addition to pitching and has a very strong right handed swing with present bat speed and lots of projection.

Black vs Columbia Blue Game Highlights >>

6/6/2015 5:46:52 PM

Cade Bullinger (2016 RHP, Boerne, TX) Tossed three innings of one hit, ball at the Sunshine South Today. Bullinger sat 84-86 with a low effort delivery and an easy arm action. Cade also showed an above average 11/5 CB at 69-71. In total Bullinger racked up 5 K's in all.

Dallas Backer (2016 2B, Bandera, TX) Went 2-4 at the plate today with both hits being singles. Backer showed an aggressive approach at the plate. Dallas showed the ability to stay back and let the ball travel.

Hudson LaBorde (2016 1B, Lafayette, LA) had an opposite field 2B in the game today. LaBorde not only showed his ability to wait back on a pitch, but also showed his ability to run well.

Ixon Cintron (2019 C, Spring, TX) had a great day at the plate today going 3-3 with 3 singles and a run scored. Cintron consistently squared the ball up all day with a good path to the ball.

Grant McDaniel (2016 OF, Victoria, TX) had a double in the game today. McDaniel showed good bat speed at the plate, also has some lift in swing.

Sam Haley (2016 2B, Nacogdoches, TX) swung the bat well in the game collecting 2 hits.  One was a triple where he showed some pop.
