Indians bats too much for Titans

Dalton Guthrie (2014, SS, 2B/OF, Venice HS) is the table setter for the Indians going 2-5 with a double, triple, and scoring twice. He displayed a simple fundamental swing, short to the ball and uses his hands well. Dalton is the type of lead-off hitter every coach wants squaring the ball consistently to the middle of the field with high OBP.

Michael Rivera (2014, C/3B, Venice HS) was a hard out for the Titans going 4-5 with a double and recording 4 of the 9 RBI's by the Indians in the game. He once again shows a confident approach at the plate showing good bat speed, good extension with a fluid stroke making consistent hard contact.

Ryan Miller (2014, C, OF/RHP, Venice HS) pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up 0 runs, on 5 hits, striking out 2 Titans. He pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a tight release hiding the ball well. He has a good balanced delivery and uses his lower 1/2. His fastball range was 84-87 MPH. He also went 1-4 at the plate.

Nick Longhi (2013, 1B, OF/LHP, Venice HS) The LSU commit got 2 2/3 innings of work in on the mound giving up 0 runs, 0 hits and striking out 6. He has a slow paced delivery with a compact arm action and hides the ball well.  His fastball was 85-89 MPH topping out at 90 MPH, curveball showed good bite and depth, and had some feel and sink for his change up. He also went 1-4 at the plate with 2 RBI's.

Ryan Young (2014, C, RHP/3B, Blessed Trinity) pitched 2 2/3 innings for the Titans giving up 2 runs, 0 earned on 6 hits, striking out 4. He pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a short quick arm action. Has a balanced delivery, throws an 11/5 curveball with decent spin and shape to it. His FB ranged from 78-86 MPH. Out of the 59 pitches he threw 43 were strikes (72.9%).

Nathaniel Maggio (2013, C, RHP/C, Blessed Trinity) was 2-3 at the plate with a double and a walk. He showed us again that he can consistently square the ball up making hard contact displaying good bat speed, extension and leverage.



Parkview Ends PG HS Showdown with Win

Josh Hart (2013, OF, Parkview HS) went 1-3 at the plate with 1 RBI, and scoring once. Hart showed good bat speed from the left side making consistent hard contact in the game. He also showed off his defensive skills taking good routes to ball turns normal hits into outs.

Jarrett Hood (2013, 1B, 3B/RHP, Parkview HS) showed off some pop in his first AB hitting a stand up double off the brick wall in RCF at Terry Park 350+ ft. He is a big strong prospect displaying solid bat speed and leverage in his swing with power potential. 

Robert Youngblood (2013, 2B/3B, Parkview HS) displayed good bat speed at the plate going 1-3 with a double. He has a patient approach to hitting with a good eye and displayed good extension with gap power.

Luis Alvarado (2014, RHP, OF/SS, Montverde Academy) The Eagles pitcher had a good performance on the mound giving them 6 strong innings giving up 2 runs on 4 hits, striking out 8 Panthers. Fastball up to 90 MPH. The ball leaves his hand clean and easy, long loose arm action, smooth and loose out front, with low effort.



Montverde Sneaks Out with Win

Kevin Olmeda Ahedo (2013, IF, Montverde Academy) had a solid game overall and went 2-3 with a triple and an RBI at the plate. He has a sound hitting approach and showed good bat speed with quick hands. He is also a solid runner getting down the line quick and gets 1st-3rd in a hurry.

Angel Alicea-Nieves (2013, RHP/3B, Montverde Academy) went 1-2 at the plate, scoring once and stealing a base. He is a very athletic prospect, showing good speed on the bases and in the field. Has simple swing mechanics, good shift into contact, good lower half use, solid mid-field line drive contact skills. 

Travis Dotson (2013, RHP, Montverde Academy) had a strong outing going 7 innings giving up 2 runs, 1 earned on 4 hits and striking out 4. Travis worked 79-83 touching 84 MPH with his FB that had late life. He worked down in the zone and spotted his pitches up well.

Jacob Lightle (2013, MIF, Savannah Christian) went 1-3 at the plate recording a walk and an RBI and had 2 stolen bases for the Raiders. He is a very aggressive hitter showing the ability to hit the ball to all fields and has a good percentage of quality AB's. He is also an instinctive base runner frustrating pitchers.

Bryce Evans (2014, SS, Savannah Christian) had a solid day at the plate hitting the ball hard going 1-3 with a walk and a run scored. He showed off his aggressiveness once again jumping on pitches early making good contact and driving the ball. He also was apart of 2 double plays defensively.

Sierra boosts Sailors to Victory

Jason Sierra (2013, 1B/OF, Sarasota HS) made use of his at-bats going 1-3 with a triple, 1 run scored and recording 2 RBI's. Jason showed a confident approach at the plate, with good bat speed, extension, and power potential. He displayed strength in his swing making consistent hard contact.

Dylan White (2013, LHP, 1B/ OF, Sarasota HS) had another good performance with his bat going 2-4 with a double, and scoring once. He was aggressive at the plate all week making hard contact regularly displaying his bat speed and his ability to barrel up consistently.

Joe Cavallaro (2014, RHP/3B, Sarasota HS) pitched 6 innings for the Sailors giving up 1 earned run on 6 hits and striking out 3 Titans. He showed good command and was around the plate with all pitches. Joe gets good extension out front, pitches downhill, with a good follow through and has a solid arm action. He worked 82-86 MPH with his fastball.

John Davis (2013, 3B, RHP/OF, Blessed Trinity) was the only Titans with multiple hits going 2-3 with 2 singles and scoring 1 run. At the plate he displayed a short direct path to the ball with good bat speed and showed the ability to hit the ball to all fields.


Mater Academy Ends Tourney on High Note

Daniel Reyes (2015, OF, Mater Academy) was 2-3 at the plate with 2 singles, and 2 runs scored for the Lions. He has been swinging the bat well all weekend displaying good bat speed and making consistent hard contact hitting the ball to all fields.

Angel Ortiz (2014, OF/1B, Mater Academy) went 1-2 at the plate with a double, 1 run scored, drove in 4, and walked once. He has a gap to gap approach at the plate with pop. He's an aggressive hitter and displays a line drive swing plane with good bat speed.

Michael Mediavilla (2014, LHP/1B, Mater Academy) pitched a complete game 2 hit shutout striking out 3 Panthers. He pitches from 3/4 arm slot, long arm action, low effort delivery. Gets a lot of depth on his 12-6 curveball and has good feel for it. Has big fade action on changeup with a lot of sink on pitch. FB was effective keeping it down in the zone and worked at 84-87 MPH.

Ryan Blanton (2013, OF, Parkview HS) was one of only 2 Panthers to register a hit off of Mediavilla going 1-2 with a double. He has a sound hitting approach at the plate with a fluid stroke and leverage in his swing.

Venice Blanks Cartersville

Tyson Albert (2013, RHP, Venice HS) picks up the win with a strong performance pitching 7 innings, giving up 4 hits, 0 runs, striking out 2. Has a compact arm action, 3/4 arm slot, balanced online delivery, and repeats well. Pitches aggressively with his fastball and pitches to contact, FB was 83-87 MPH today. Pounds the strike zone and gets early count ground balls, makes the hitters swing the bat.

Michael Rivera (2014, C/3B, Venice HS) didn't record a hit in the game going 0-1, but made his AB's meaningful being patient recording 2 walks, scoring once and driving in 1 run. He displayed a confident approach at the plate showing good bat speed, good extension with a fluid stroke.

Colton Lightner (2013, INF, Venice HS) has been swinging it well all week and went 1-2 in this game. He has a good eye while staying aggressive at the plate with a confident approach. He showed good bat speed and made consistent hard contact.

Connor Justus (2013, MIF/RHP, Cartersville HS) was impressive all tournament, and didn't disappoint in this game going 1-3 and made consistent hard contact. Below is his stat line from the weekend.

Ty Fowler (2013, C/RHP, Cartersville HS) had a good game at the plate going 1-2 with a double and a walk. He has a confident approach at the plate, good balanced swing displaying solid bat speed and a line drive swing plane.

Sailors Survive the Hurricanes

Jordan Gubelman (2015, RHP, Sarasota HS) was solid on the mound pitching 4 strong innings, giving up 2 earned runs on 4 hits and struck out 3. Pitches from 3/4 arm slot, efficient mechanics, and works downhill. His arm action is free and easy and has a low effort delivery. Projectable arm, balanced delivery, good extension and finishes out front well, changes speeds well, solid changeup. His FB sat 82-85 MPH.

Dylan Busby (2014, SS/OF, Sarasota HS) had another solid day at the plate going 1-3 with a double and 1 RBI. Has a balanced swing displaying good bat speed and has good plate coverage. The ball really carries off his bat.

Dylan White (2013, LHP, 1B/ OF, Sarasota HS) impressed with the bat going 1-2 with a double, 1 run scored and walked twice. Has a short compact swing with good bat speed and a line drive swing plane. He is an aggressive hitter making consistent hard contact and drives the ball regularly. 

Connor Justus (2013, MIF/RHP, Cartersville HS) had a good outing on the mound pitching 7 strong giving up 6 hits, 5 runs, 2 earned and striking out 5 Sailors. Has a s
imple leg raise delivery, tight 3/4 arm slot, throws easy, good running action on his fastball that ranged from 82-87 MPH today.

Drew Lawson (2013, C, 3B/2B, Cartersville HS) had a very productive day with the bat going 2-2 with two singles and recording a sacrifice. He has a patient approach at the plate with a balanced swing and is a line drive contact hitter.

Mater Academy Cruises to Victory

Deyvid Silva (2015, SS, Mater Academy) was productive with the bat going 2-4 with 2 run scored and recording 2 RBI's. Is a young athletic prospect that displayed a smooth swing with solid bat speed and made consistent contact.

Kevin Abraham (2013, C, 1B/OF, Mater Academy) had a good day at the plate going 2-3 with a double, and 1 run scored. He has a sound hitting approach with line drive swing plane. Displays good bat speed, good extension, and showed the ability to lift the ball.

Andrew Cabezas (2015, RHP, 1B/2B, Mater Academy) had a good game on the mound pitching 6 1/3 innings, giving up 4 hits, 3 runs, 2 earned and striking out 7. Kevin is a young prospect that showed that he knows how to pitch and has projectable stuff. He had good command spotting up well, and has a heavy FB that sat 83-87 MPH.

Bryce Evans (2014, SS, Savannah Christian) was solid offensively today going 2-2 with a double and scoring once. He is an aggressive hitter that makes consistent contact. Bryce has a gap to gap approach and showed the ability to pull the ball.

Blessed Trinity moves to 2-0 going into Saturday

Sam Roberts (2013, OF, Blessed Trinity) had an impressive 1st game on Thursday and brought that momentum with him to Friday night going 1-3 with a triple, 1 R, and 1 RBI. He showed off his aggressive approach at plate making consistent hard contact and showed the ability to hit the ball to all fields.

Nathaniel Maggio (2013, 1B, RHP/C, Blessed Trinity) who is a Tennessee commit, went 1-2 with a triple, 1 run scored, 1 RBI and a walk at the plate today. He displayed a good balanced swing, good bat speed, gets solid extension, barrels up consistently, and showed power potential. 

Angel Alicea-Nieves (2013, RHP/3B, Montverde Academy) had an impressive outing striking out eight batters, allowing no earned runs on two hits over six innings of work. He has a slow paced delivery, pitching from a 3/4 arm slot with a loose arm action. His FB was in the Upper 80's topping out at 89 MPH. Angel likes to work down in zone and gets hard run and sink at times with his fastball.

Andrew Riel (2013, RHP, Blessed Trinity) Held the Eagles to just two hits, allowing no earned runs, and striking out 3 during his 5 innings on the mound for the Titans. He stays tall on backside with a balanced delivery pitching from a 3/4 arm slot and has an extended release. Andrew likes to work fast attacking hitters and is around the plate with all pitches. His FB sat 77-81 MPH with arm side run. 

Venice Blanks Parkview 3-0

Mac Marshall (2014, LHP/OF, Parkview HS) pitched 5 innings giving up 2 hits, 2 earned runs and struck out 12. He has an online delivery, pitches from a high 3/4's to over the top release, long loose arm action. Fastball to 93 mph, maintains velocity well, spots fastball well when working downhill. He has good feel for curveball, flashed a nice change up at times, and showed the ability to keep hitters off-balance.

Brandon Elmy (2014, OF, 1B/RHP, Venice HS) gave the Indians 4 strong innings giving up 2 hits, 0 runs, and striking out 3. His arm works well pitching from a high 3/4 arm slot while staying online and getting good extension out front. He competes on the mound and is around the plate with all pitches. His FB was 84-87 MPH with good arm side run.

Michael Rivera (2014, C/3B, Venice HS) added to his doubles total from earlier today going 1-2 with a 2B(3), and an RBI. Showed his aggressive approach at the plate with good bat speed and quick hands squaring the ball up consistently.

Colton Lightner (2013, INF, Venice HS) went 1-2 at the plate recording a double, 2 runs scores, and a walk. He has a short stoke with a line drive swing plane, has some hand quickness, very good balance, stays on the ball and squares up, flashed some lift in his swing.

Robert Youngblood (2013, 2B/3B, Parkview HS) had a good night for the Panthers going 2-2 with 2 singles. He displayed a patient approach at the plate with good bat speed and made consistent contact.



Parkview sneaks by Sarasota with a 1-0 W

Brandon Chapman (2014, C, Sarasota HS) went 2-3 at the plate with 2 singles. He showed a confident approach at the plate making consistent hard contact. Chapman also displayed quickness in his bat, good bat speed and a balanced swing. 

Dylan Busby (2014, SS/OF, Sarasota HS) went 1-3 with the bat with the only extra base hit of the game. He has a middle of the field approach and showed the ability to pull the ball. He displayed quickness in his hands, and made consistent contact. 

Joshua Knies (2013, RHP, Sarasota HS) recorded the loss but had a great day on the mound pitching 6 innings, giving up 2 hits, 1 run, and striking out 6. Knies showed smooth balanced delivery, good command and was around the plate with all of his pitches. His arm works well, throws easy and has a good follow through. He liked to attack hitters with his FB that sat 81-84 MPH, mixing in multiple off-speed pitches.

Christian Vann (2013, LHP, Parkview HS) was solid on the bump pitching 6 scoreless innings, giving up 3 hits and striking out 2. Vann is a crafty lefty that mixes his pitches effectively and pitches to contact. He showed a smooth balanced delivery, pitches downhill with a long arm action. He worked 78-81 MPH with his FB with cut action, mixed in his 12/6 CB and CH at the right times.

Late Power Surge Lifts Mater Academy

William Abreu (2013, OF/LHP, Mater Academy) came up clutch down the stretch, jump starting Mater Academy's rally in the 6th inning with a 3-run HR to cut the Cartersville lead to 1. Abreu is a patient hitter with a confident approach. He displayed a balanced swing, with good plate coverage and showed good bat speed.

Daniel Reyes (2015, OF, Mater Academy) was perfect for the day at the plate recording a 4-4 performance with a double, HR, 2 runs scored, and an RBI. Reyes was the player that had the game tying HR to follow Abreu's 3-run HR. Daniel is a very promising young prospect that displayed a live bat with an aggressive approach at the plate. He has a fluid stroke with good bat speed and showed power potential.

Connor Justus (2013, MIF/RHP, Cartersville HS) Had a solid day at the plate going 2-3, 2 doubles, 2 runs, and an RBI. Has a confident approach and live bat. He displayed a quick bat, short stroke and has good bat speed. Justus also went into pitch 1 inning retiring the side and striking out 2. His FB ranged from 86-90 MPH with arm side run and worked down in the zone.

Tripp Jamieson (2013, 3B, Cartersville HS) had a good performance going 1-2 with a 3-run HR, 1 R, and 2 walks. Is a very well put together prospect listed a 6-4/235 with power potential. He is a very aggressive hitter with a power approach at the plate. He displayed a live bat with good bat speed and showed the ability to lift the ball.

 

Venice pitching too much for Savannah Christian

Tyler Shambora (2013, RHP/UT, Venice HS) had a good day on the mound pitching 6 2/3 innings giving up 2 hits, 0 runs and striking out 8. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot and has a tight release, hiding the ball well. He was effective keeping his pitches down in the zone and frustrated hitters mixing his pitches well. His FB range was 81-86 MPH and displayed a CB that had good depth. 

Michael Rivera (2014, C/3B, Venice HS) had a productive day at the plate going 2-4 with 2 doubles, and 2 RBI's. He displayed a gap to gap approach with good bat speed, and showed power potential with the bat.

Nick Longhi (2013, 1B, OF/LHP, Venice HS) was 2-4 at the plate with 2 doubles, 1 run and an RBI. He displayed a calm approach, with a direct hand path to the ball, creating good bat speed and staying balanced and hits through the ball. Nick has good strength in his swing and sees the ball very well.
