Cobb goes 3-for-3 in Blue Wave win

Fueled by a four-run 3rd inning, Excel Blue Wave beat Foundation Sports As 18u Lorow 8-0 Saturday night. Dalton Cobb (2015, Alexandria, AL) led the Blue Wave offensive attack, going 3-for-3 with a stolen base and a run scored. Cobb showed a short, compact swing and good bat speed with an aggressive approach. He also displayed power potential. In the field, he flashed solid defensive tools and a quick release. Teammate Manning Early (2017, Gardendale, AL) tripled and drove in a pair of runs.

RHP Jacob Hulcher (2015, Montgomery, AL) struck out five in 2.0 innings for Excel, throwing 20 of 30 pitches for strikes (67 percent). Hulcher worked in the 80-83 mph range and flashed a low-70s curve with 12/6 break and good depth. Teammate RHP Peyton Whitten (2015, Anniston, AL) fanned five in 3.0 no-hit innings of relief. Whitten hide the ball well, firing strikes at 81-85 mph, peaking at 87. 

Nelson downs Team Elite, 5-1

Nelson Baseball School 18U received 6.0 shutout innings from RHP AJ Hayes (2015, Canton, GA) in their 5-1 win over Team Elite 16s Louisville Slugger Saturday night. Hayes struck out four and allowed just three hits. He displayed a solid arm action, working in the 76-80 mph range. He also flashed an upper-60s curve.

Reed Massey (2015, Marietta, GA) went 1-for-3 with two RBI for Nelson. Bryan Petty (2017, Homer, GA) added two hits and an RBI for Team Elite.

RHP Spencer Chapman (2017, Lilburn, GA) struck out four in 4.0 innings for Team Elite, throwing 42 of 67 pitches for strikes (63 percent). Chapman displayed good mound presence and projectable stuff, working in the 76-79 mph range. He used a mid-60s curve as his out-pitch.


Stout K's 12 as Cangelosi & Upstate end in 0-0 tie

Cangelosi Black 2015 and the Upstate Mavericks were held to three hits each as they played to a 0-0 tie in 7 innings Saturday night. 

Eric Horbach (2015, Alsip, IL) recorded two of the game's six hits for Cangelosi. Teammate Mark Khoury (2015, Naperville, IL) went 1-for-3 with a double.

RHP Andrew Stout (2015, Plainfield, IL) struck out 12 in 7.0 scoreless innings for Cangelosi. Stout changed speeds well, working in the 75-81 mph range. He also showed a low-70s curve. 

RHP Ryne Inman (2015, Lawrenceville, GA) fanned six in 4.0 one-hit innings for the Mavericks, throwing 40 of 51 pitches for strikes. Inman displayed good mound presence, working in the 83-86 mph range, peaking at 88. He also flashed a low-70s curve. Teammate and East Carolina commit 1B/RHP Evans Bozeman (2015, Pensacola, FL) pitched an inning of relief, striking out one. The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder fired strikes at 85-87 mph. At the plate, he showed good bat speed in going 1-for-3.


Freeman homers in Showtime win

Keyed by a four-run 4th inning, Showtime Sports Academy 18u beat Nelson Baseball School 17u Saturday night. Darrell Freeman (2015, Brentwood, TN) led the Showtime offense, going 1-for-3 with a homer. Teammate Jacob Gunter (2015, Franklin, TN) added two RBI. 

Jake Johnston (2016, Acworth, GA) recorded Nelson's only multi-hit effort, going 2-for-2 with a walk.

RHP Parker Gupton (2015, Goodlettsville, TN) struck out seven batters in 7.0 innings for Showtime, throwing 48 of 75 pitches for strikes (64 percent). Gupton worked in the 75-81 mph range while flashing an upper-60s curve.

Team Elite fires 3-hitter in 2-0 win

Team Elite 17s Louisville Slugger got RBI hits from Alex Hendrix (2016, Lilburn, GA) and Kent Baldy (2016, Buford, GA) in their 2-0 win over the Upstate Mavericks Scout Team Saturday night.

RHP Patrick Martin (2016, Kennesaw, GA) started and pitched 3.0 innings for Team Elite, striking out five and allowing just one hit. He threw 29 of 46 pitches for strikes (63 percent). Martin displayed a short, quick arm, firing strikes at 82-84 mph.



Lenny Websters CATCH42 record 10 hits in win

Lenny Websters CATCH42 Baseball scored in five of six innings to beat Fierce Baseball 9-1 Saturday night. Lenny Websters got multi-hit efforts from: Joshua Terry (2016, Austell, GA), Jordan Perkins (2016, Snellville, GA) and Tyler Grant (2016, Lawrenceville, GA). Perkins also stole two bases and tallied a game-high three RBI. Grant added two RBI of his own.

RHP Dillon Withers (2015, Snellville, GA) struck out seven in 6.0 innings for Lenny Websters. He threw fastballs in the 71-75 mph range, peaking at 76. Withers also flashed a mid-60s curve. 

Allen's HR is difference in HP's 2-1 win

Chase Allen (2015, Sharpsburg, GA) provided all the offense HP Chili Dogs Maldonado needed, going 2-for-2 with a homer, a walk and two RBI in his team's 2-1 win over East Cobb Braves 17u Saturday night. CJ Ballard (2015, Willamson, GA) went 3-for-3 with a run scored from the leadoff spot, displaying gap power at the plate. On the base paths, he showed a quick first step and good instincts.

Georgia commit LHP Adam Goodman (2015, Fayetteville, GA) struck out seven in 7.0 innings for HP, allowing one unearned run. The 6-foot-6, 200-pound southpaw pitched downhill with an easy arm action, working in the 78-82 mph range and peaking at 84. Goodman also showed a good curve in the upper-60s. 

LHP Brian Peet (2016, Woodstock, GA) struck out five in 6.0 innings for the Braves. The lefty showed a quick arm, throwing strikes at 75-80 mph with armside run from a 3/4 arm angle. Peet also flashed a mid-60s curve and a low-70s changeup.

Keyed by a four-run 1st inning, Team Elite 17s Prime downed Nelson Baseball School 17u 6-2 Saturday night. Bryan Kregel (2016, Lilburn, GA) led all players with three hits. He also doubled and drove in a pair. Teammate Garrett Hodges (2016, Guyton, GA) also doubled and tallied a game-high three RBI. 

Glover started and pitched 3.0 innings for Team Elite, striking out five. His fastball sat in the 83-86 mph range, peaking at 87. Teammate RHP Griffin Jolliff (2016, Buford, GA) fanned two in an inning of relief. Jolliff was in the 83-85 mph range and flashed a low-70s curve. 

For Nelson, Jake Johnston (2016, Acworth, GA) and Andrew Mitchell (2016, Acworth, GA) recorded two-hit games. 

Team Elite completes comeback with 4-run 7th

Team Elite 16s Black scored four runs in the top of the 7th to complete the 7-6 comeback over Fierce Baseball Saturday night. Elite's four runs came on a bases-loaded walk by Cole McCue (2017, Buford, GA), and two Fierce Baseball fielding errors. 

Leadoff hitter Morgan Doss (2017, Snellville, GA) walked twice, scored twice and recorded an RBI. He displayed a line drive swing plane.

For Fierce Baseball, Tucker Wright (2015, Dallas, GA) and Kameron Patel (2015, Kennesaw, GA) recorded multi-hit efforts. Wright also pitched 1.2 innings, flashing a sinking fastball up to 75 mph. Patel doubled and drove in two at the plate. On the mound, he recorded two outs in relief, working up to 76 mph. Hayden Edwards (2015, Dallas, GA) doubled and drove in three, boasting a strong, projectable frame. 

TGBA's offense explodes in 14-6 win

TGBA Blue Borcherding tallied eight hits and 11 walks in their 14-6 win over Lenny Websters CATCH42 Baseball Saturday night. Northwestern commit Jack Dunn (2015, Alpharetta, GA) led the TGAB offensive attack, as he capped the team's six-run 5th inning with a grand slam to left field. He also walked twice and scored a pair.

Johns' late HR lifts Astros to 4-2 win

The East Cobb Astros scored twice in the bottom of the 6th to complete the 4-2 comeback win over Upper Cumberland Baseball Saturday night. Auburn commit Thomas Johns' (2016, Pinson, AL) home run did the trick. 

SS/RHP Matthew Cole (2016, Marietta, GA) started and pitched 3.0 innings for East Cobb. The 6-foot, 164-pounder was around the plate with all his pitches, hiding the ball well as he fired strikes at 83-85 mph, peaking at 87. Teammate LHP Elliott Anderson (2016, Cartersville, GA) struck out nine in 4.0 no-hit innings of relief. Anderson used his lower half well, dominating with a fastball that sat at 84-86 mph with armside run.

RHP Winston Cannon (2016, Cookeville, TN) struck out six in 6.0 innings for Upper Cumberland. The 6-foot-3, 185-pounder worked in the 80-83 mph range, while relying heavily on a low-70s bender.

As hold off GBSA's late-inning rally to win 10-9

Led by a three-hit effort from Zach Swindell (2016, Sharpsburg, GA), Foundation Sports As 18u held off the late-inning rallies from GBSA Rays in a 10-9 thriller Saturday night. Swindell's three-hits led all players. He also waked, stole a base, drove in a run and scored another. Teammates Evan Skipper (2015, Spalding, GA), Eriq White (2015, Snellville, GA) and Isaiah Lewis (2015, Peachtree City, GA) all recorded two RBI for the As.

Jaquez Williams (2016, Newnan, GA) homered for GBSA. Kameron Armstrong (2015, Lithonia, GA) tallied the team's only multi-hit effort, going 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, two runs and two of GBSA's 10 stolen bases. Tekwaan Whyte (2015, Stone Mountain, GA) went 1-for-1 with three walks, two RBI, a run and a stolen base.

East Cobb Baseball Astros held Nelson Baseball School 18U to just three hits in their 5-0 win. Cameron Allison (2016, Pope, GA) started and lasted two innings. He struck our four while allowing a hit. He threw his fastball between 82-85 mph. Zac Kristofak (2016, Walton, GA) fanned four and walked one in the next three innings. His heater was between 86-88 mph. Brandon Hill (2015, Parkview, GA) threw the seventh and k'ed two.  Jalen Miller (2015, Riverwood, GA) led the offense with a single that plated two runs. Hill doubled in a run while Reggie Pruitt (2015, Kennesaw Mt, GA) had a triple. 

Bradley Hood (2015, Cass, GA) threw the first two innings for Nelson.  He struck out two but gave up six hits. His fastball was in the low 80's and touched 85 mph. Brooks Luther (2015, North Paulding, GA) came in next.  In 1 2/3 innings, he fanned two but walked three. 


Elite Baseball Club walks 12 times in 10-3 win

Led by the bat of David McAnelly (2016, Lexington, KY), Elite Baseball Club beat the DawgPound 10-3 Saturday afternoon at Kennesaw Mountain HS. McAnelly went 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBI. He displayed a sound, quiet hitting approach, driving the ball with regular contact. Playing shortstop, McAnelly showed a quick first step and an accurate arm. 

Eddie Satisky (2017, Lexington, KY) also had a triple and three RBI for Elite Baseball Club. Teammate Alex Daniel (2015, Lexington, KY) reached via walk four times, scoring on three occasions. 

RHP Matt Wilburn (2015, Lancaster, KY) struck out four in 2.0 spotless innings of relief. Wilburn flashed dominant stuff, working in the 81-85 mph range from an overtop arm angle. He also mixed in a low-70s curve with good depth and 12/6 break.


TGBA holds off CStixx rally to win 8-7

Keyed by a six-run 2nd inning, TGBA Red Byams held off CStixx's rally to prevail 8-7 Saturday afternoon at Pinecrest Academy.

Parker Biederer (2016, Cumming, GA), Daniel Mickelson (2016, Alpharetta, GA) and Jamal Devine (2015, Decatur, GA) recorded two-hit games for TGBA. Biederer tripled and scored twice, and Mickelson added two runs of his own. Devine doubled tallied a game-high two RBI. On the mound, the right-handed Devine pitched 2.2 innings of relief, working in the 70-75 mph range. 

Hunter Hartshorne (2016, Hamilton, GA) collected two hits and an RBI for CStixx. Teammates Sam Stohr (2017, Columbus, GA) and Troy Johnson (2017, Hamilton, GA) each went 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI. Stohr scored twice, Johnson once.

East Cobb Baseball Astros moves on to the finals as they beat Georgia Banditos.  Brock Anderson (2016, Sparkman, AL) led the attack with two hits (double and triple), and two RBI's.  Thomas Johns (2016, Clay-Charlkville, AL) helped out with two hits including a double and an RBI.  Malique Foreman (2016, Mays, GA) doubled in two runs while Kyle Wilkie (2016, Creekview, GA) drove in two runs with a single. Zach Goodman (2015, Kennesaw Mountain, GA) threw the game.  He struck out five and gave up only three hits. His mid 80's heater touched 88 mph. 

Elijah Willingham (2015, Paulding County, GA) started for the Banditos. He struck out three while allowing three hits in two innings of work.  Alex Krakau (2015, Blessed Trinity, GA) threw 2 1/3 innings. He fanned two and walked one.

It was a low scoring game as Nelson Baseball School 17U ties with East Cobb Braves 17U 1-1. Carson McGourk (2016, Hillgrove, GA) start for Nelson. He struck out three while allowing just one hit.

Miles Dutton started for the Braves.  In five innings, he struck out six while allowing three hits.  Ben Brock (2016, Harrison, GA) threw a perfect sixth inning.  Charles Crosby (2016, Deerfield-Windsor, GA) pitched the seventh. He struck out two and did not allow a walk.  His heater was between 85-87 mph.

Team Elite 17's Black plate four in the fifth and went on to beat Fierce Baseball 7-0.  Matthew Cunningham (2016, South Forsyth, GA) led the attack with two singles.  Justin Phillips (2016, Kennesaw Mountain, GA) singled home two runs while Chase Maughon (2016, North Oconee, GA) had two singles and an RBI.  Austin Wojick started and lasted four innings.  He struck out four while allowing a hit.  Corn came in next.  In three innings, he struck out five and gave up two hits.

Westley Fernandez (2016, Creekview, GA) threw for the Fierce.  In 4 1/3 innings, he struck out two while walking three.  Tucker Wright (2015, North Paulding, GA) came in to throw the rest.  He fanned two and gave up three hits.

Bryan Petty (2017, Mill Creek, GA) led the attack with a single that plated two runs.  DeAngelo Abboud (2017, Brookwood, GA) pitched in with a single and two RBI's.  Michael Wright (2017, Alexander, GA) started and lasted four innings.  He struck out one while allowing just three hits.

Austin Smith (2017, Lambert, GA) had two hits for the Twins, one being a double. 

Astros score late to advance

East Cobb Baseball Astros waited until the sixth to score their runs but they beat TGBA Blue Borcherding.  Brock Anderson (2016, Sparkman, AL) led the attack with a double that plated two runs.  Brooks Buckler (2015, Norcross, GA) started for the Astros.  In four innings, he struck out one and held TGBA to three hits.  He threw his fastball between 83-86 mph.

Casey Mize (2015, Springville, AL) threw 5 1/3 innings. He struck out six while allowing two hits. His mid 80's heater touched 91 mph. Taylor Wilkes (2016, Jefferson, GA) came in to pitched 2/3 inning.  His heater was in the high 80's and reached 89 mph. 

Kendrick shines in win

John Alan Kendrick (2015, Calhoun, GA) threw a complete game for Nelson Baseball School 18U in their 4-0 win over GameFace Elite. He struck out seven and help GameFace to only two hits. His mid 80's heater touched 88 mph. Chandler Adams (2015, Woodstock, GA) tripled in a run while Kendrick doubled in the win.

Cole Dudley (2015, Lanier, GA) threw five innings for the Elite.  He struck out five while allowing just two hits.  Luke Allen (2015, Bethlehem Christian, GA) came in and threw the sixth.  He fanned two and walked one.

HP Chili Dogs Maldonado slips past Team Elite 17s Prime to advance to the semi finals.  CJ Ballard (2015, Pike County, GA) led the attack with two singles that plated two runs.  Jake McFarland (2015, Ola, GA) doubled in two runs while Adam Goodman (2015, Starrs Mill, GA) singled twice.  Ethan Gillis (2015, Whitewater, GA) threw five innings. He struck out six while walking two.  He threw his fastball between 84-86 mph and touched 89. 

Linginfelter threw three innings for Prime. He struck out four while allowing a hit. His fastball was in the high 80's and touched 91 mph.  Austin White (2016, Buford, GA) singled twice and also drove in a run.  Mason McWhorter (2016, West Forsyth, GA) joined in on the action with two singles and an RBI.

His heater was in the mid 80's and touched 87 mph. Ryan Cotton (2016,  Carrolton, GA) threw an inning and struck out two. His low 80's heater reached 86 mph. Cole Austin (2015, Harrison, GA) led the offense with two hits including a triple and an RBI.  Will Galloway (2015, Blessed Trinity, GA) went 2 for 4 with a double while Blake Sangster (2015, North Gwinnett, GA) singled twice.  Austin Godfrey (2015, South Paulding, GA) doubled in two runs.

East Cobb Patriots 18U scored in each of the innings as they beat Team Elite 17s Louisville Slugger 9-0. Brady John (2015, Pope, GA) led the offense with two singles and two RBI's. DJ Solazo (2016, North Paulding, GA) pitched in with two hits and drove in two runs while Austin Pharr (2015, Cherokee, GA) singled in a couple of runs. Chris Simonds (2015, Salem, GA) threw the first two innings. He struck out three and allowed two hits.

Josh Denton (2016, Brookwood, GA) started for the Sluggers.  In three innings, he struck out two while allowing five hits.  Alex Hendrix (2016, Parkview, GA) came in and threw the fourth and fifth.  He allowed three hits but struck out two.

His impressive heater was in the mid 80's and touched 90 mph. Andrew Schultz (2016, Greater Atlanta, GA) came in and threw the sixth and seventh. He fanned two and allowed only one.  His heater was between 85-88 mph. Nick Wilhite (2016, Buford, GA) led the offense with two singles and four RBI's.  Austin Biggar (2016, Parkview, GA) helped out with two hits and an RBI.

Team Carolina slips past Elite Baseball Club 2-0.  Alex Smith (2017, Ardrey Kell, NC) started and lasted five innings.  He struck out one but allowed four hits.  Jose Vera (2017, Ardrey Kell, NC) came in and threw the sixth and seventh. He fanned two and did not five up a hit.

Aaron McGeorge pitched six stellar innings.  He struck out 12 and only allowed one hit.  His heater was between 81-84 mph and touched 85.

He struck out two and walked two.

Team Elite holds off BigStix in 8-7 thriller

Keyed by three-run innings in the 5th and 6th, Team Elite 17s Black held off BigStix Gamers 18u in an 8-7 thriller Saturday afternoon at Perry Park. 

Garrett Boden (2016, Atlanta, GA) and Matthew Cunningham (2016, Cumming, GA) each recorded muli-hit games for Team Elite. Boden went 2-for-3 with a run scored. Cunningham went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI and a run scored. Justin Phillips (2016, Kennesaw, GA) led all players with three hits and three RBI. On the mound, Phillips recorded one out in relief, working in the 72-74 mph range.

RHP Griff Faircloth (2016, Baxley, GA) struck out four in 3.0 innings for Team Elite. The 6-foot-1, 165-pounder displayed good command, attacking hitters with a fastball in the 82-85 mph range. Faircloth also flashed a 12/6 curve in the low-70s with good depth. 

Durrett led the BixStix offense with a homer, three RBI and a stolen base. Anthony AJ Spencer (2015, Locust Grove, GA) went 3-for-4 with a stolen base and an RBI. Antwan Johnson (2015, Iithonia, GA), Cale Gibson (2015, McDonough, GA), Jenkins and Crisp recorded two hits each. BigStix recorded 12 hits and six walks in total.

In addition to his three-hit effort, Spencer tossed a scoreless inning of relief on the mound. He displayed good command and kept his pitches down, firing strikes at 85-88 mph.


Team Elite wins on late-inning error

Terence Norman (2016, Marietta, GA) and Beau Hanna (2017, Winder, GA) each scored on an error in the top of the 7th to lift Team Elite 16s Prime to a 3-2 win over Cangelosi Black 2015 Saturday afternoon at Hamilton Crossing Park. Norman had the game's only two-hit effort, going 2-for-3 with a run scored from the No. 5-hole.

RHP Robert "Jake" Brace (2017, Suwanee, GA) struck out four in 5.2 innings for Team Elite. He worked in the 78-79 mph range and flashed an upper-60s curve. Teammate SS/RHP Oscar Serratos (2017, Lawrenceville, GA) pitched a scoreless inning in relief. Serratos threw 79-84 mph and mixed in a mid-60s curve and a low-70s changeup.

LHP Robert Talarico (2015, Joliet, IL) struck out three in 6.0 innings for Cangelosi. The southpaw fired strikes at 78-81 mph. 


Abboud's two doubles lift Elite to 8-1 win

Keyed by DeAngelo Abboud's (2017, Lawrenceville, GA) two doubles, Team Elite 16s Louisville Slugger beat Foundation Sports As 18u Lorow 8-1 Saturday afternoon at Osborne HS. Abboud displayed excellent bat speed and a short, compact swing. In the field, he showed a good first step and accurate arm. 

LHP Bryan Petty (2017, Homer, GA) struck out five in 4.0 shutout innings for Team Elite, throwing 37 of 55 pitches (67 percent) for strikes. Petty worked fast and attacked hitters with heaters in the 70-72 mph range with armside run. 

2B/RHP Jake Hayes (2016, McDonough, GA) pitched 4.2 innings for the As. He displayed an online delivery and worked in the 73-76 mph range, peaking at 78 with armside run. He also flashed an upper-60s curve with 1/7 break.

Zach Swindell's RBI groundout in the 3rd inning was all the offense needed, as Foundation Sports As 18u beat the Upstate Mavericks Scout Team 3-0 Saturday morning at Osborne HS. 

C/RHP John Walton (2015, Fairburn, GA) started and pitched 5.0 shutout innings for the As. Teammate and Gordon CC commit SS/RHP Ryan Ross (2015, Tifton, GA) fanned a pair in 2.0 shutout innings of relief. Ross displayed good extension and a smooth delivery, firing strikes at 74-78 mph. 

RHP Noah Cole (2016, Marietta, GA) allowed three unearned runs in 6.0 innings for the Mavericks. The 6-foot-3, 180-pounder displayed good command and worked fast, attacking hitters at 78-81 mph. Cole also flashed a low-60s curve with 1/7 break.

Kenny Michalowski (2015, Carl Sandburg HS, IL) started and earned the win for Cangelosi going 4 2/3 innings allowing just 1 unearned run on 1 hit and 3 walks, while striking out 3 batters.  Michalowski featured a 74-78/80 mph fastball and mixed in a 57-63 mph curveball and a 61-65 mph changeup.

Team Elite 17's Prime defeated the Georgia Twins 6-3 to improve to 2-0 in the tournament.  Austin Biggar (2016, Parkview HS, GA) helped power the Team Elite offense showing excellent bat speed and good extension going 2-3 with 1 home run, 1 double, 1 run scored and 2 RBI.  Kennesaw State commit, Garrett Hodges (2016, South Effingham HS, GA), added in a 2-3 day showing a quick bat and gap power with 1 triple, 1 double and 2 runs scored.  Georgia commit, Cam Shepherd (2016, Peachtree Ridge HS, GA), also showed well going 2-2 with 1 double and 1 run scored.

The Georgia Banditos defeated the Tennessee Twisters 5-0 to improve to 2-0 in the tournament.  Drew Wilson (2015, Sonoraville HS, GA) started and earned the win for the Banditos going all 7 innings allowing 4 hits and 3 walks, while recording 5 strikeouts.  Wilson featured a 76-81/82 mph fastball and also mixed in a 64-67 mph curveball. 

Blake Sangster (2015, North Gwinnett HS, GA) led the way for the Banditos' offense going 1-3 with 1 double and 1 RBI.  Will Galloway (2015, Blessed Trinity Catholic HS, GA) also showed well going 1-2 with 1 run scored, 1 RBI and 1 walk.  West Virginia commit, Cole Austin (2015, Harrison HS, GA), and Bronco O'Brien (2015, Blessed Trinity Catholic HS, GA) each had 1 run scored and 1 RBI.

Upstate Mavericks Scout Team tried to come back but GBSA Rays held them off. Christian Griffin (2015, Stephenson, GA) led the attack with two singles.  Jelani Clarington (2015, Rockdale County, GA) started and lasted two innings. He struck out three while not walking a batter.  Sean Fitzpatrick (2015, Archer, GA) came in next.  In four innings, he k'ed five and gave up two hits. Both pitchers' heaters reached 84 mph.

He jacked a three-run homer as well as doubled in a run.  Jason Howell (2015, Salem, GA) pitched in with two hits including a triple and three RBI's. Cody Miller (2015, John Milledge Academy, GA) threw five innings. He struck out two while allowing just two hits.

Team Carolina defeated Fat Cat Baseball 4-1 to pick up their first win of the tournament.  Cameron Rudy (2019, Providence Day HS, NC) started and earned the win for Team Carolina going 6 innings allowing just 1 run on 4 hits and 4 walks, while striking out 2 batters.  Rudy used a short arm action on the mound and featured a 74-78/79 mph fastball and mixed in a 67-69 mph curveball.  He also impressed at the plate going 2-2 with 1 double, 1 RBI and 1 walk.  

Cameron Bare (2017, Providence HS, NC) added in a 1-2 day for the Team Carolina offense with 1 double, 1 RBI and 1 walk.  Justin Murray (2018, Providence Day HS, NC) also showed well going 1-1 with 1 RBI and 1 walk.  

For Fat Cat, Matthew Delise (2015, Homeschool, GA) went 1-2 with 1 double and Marquise Glenn (2015, Redan HS, GA) stayed inside the ball well and used a short, compact swing to go 1-2 with 1 run scored.

The East Cobb Padres defeated the Atlanta Blue Jays 6-2 to even their record at 1-1 in the tournament.  Hulsey helped lead the Padres' offense by going 1-3 with 1 double, 1 run scored and 1 RBI.  Leadoff man, Clay Bogdan (2015, Cherokee HS, GA), also showed well going 1-3 with 1 double and 1 run scored.  Jakaeron Williams (2016, Sprayberry HS, GA) and Chris Turner (2015, River Ridge HS, GA) each added in a 1-3 day with 1 run scored and 1 RBI, and Williams had 1 stolen base.  

Jameson started and earned the win for the Padres tossing a complete game over 7 innings allowing 2 runs, 1 earned, on 4 hits and 1 walk, while striking out 8 batters.  Jameson set up hitters and changed speeds between his 73-76/78 mph fastball and his 65-69 mph curveball.  

For the Blue Jays, Justin Neo (2015, American Senior HS, FL) went 2-3 with 1 RBI and Joey Bend (2015, Sandalwood HS, FL) went 1-3 with 1 double and 1 run scored.  Triston Leggett (2015, Chapel Hill HS, GA) contributed a 1-3 day with 1 double and 1 RBI as well.

The BigStix Gamers 18U defeated the Southeast Reds 1-0 to improve to 2-0 in the tournament.  David Craft (2015, Union Grove HS, GA) started and earned the win for the Gamers tossing 6 shutout innings allowing just 3 hits and 2 walks, while recording 8 strikeouts.  Crafted showed a balanced delivery and changed speeds between his 75-81/83 mph fastball and his 65-68 mph curveball. 

Leadoff man, Bryson Jackson (2015, Mary Persons HS, GA), led the Gamers' offense going 1-3 with 1 walk, while Cale Gibson (2015, Ola HS, GA) added in a 1-3 day.  

For the Reds, William Freeman (2016, Faith Academy HS, AL) took the tough-luck-loss going 6 innings allowing 1 run on 3 hits and 2 walks, while striking out 9 batters.  Freeman was around the plate with all of his pitches including his 80-85/86 mph fastball, his plus 67-70 mph curveball and a 72-77 mph straight changeup.

Carson Horman (2016, Brookwood HS, GA) started and earned the win for Team Elite going 3 innings allowing 2 runs, only 1 earned, on 3 hits and 3 walks, while recording 2 strikeouts.  Horman featured a 63-69 mph fastball on the mound and mixed in a 56-58 mph curveball.

Fueled by a seven-run 1st inning, Team Elite 17s Prime downed Showtime Sports Academy 18u 11-2 Friday night. Austin Biggar (2016, Lilburn, GA) homered and drove in two for Team Elite, while teammates Austin Wilhite (2016, Buford, GA) and Bryan Kregel (2016, Lilburn, GA) recorded two hits each. Wilhite tripled, walked, drove in a run and scored another from the leadoff spot. Kregel walked, stole a base and scored once. Griffin Jolliff (2016, Buford, GA) doubled and drove in a pair.

For Showtime, Tim Robuck (2015, Franklin, TN) went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. 

On the mound, RHP Christian Ryder (2015, Franklin, TN) struck out three in 2.0 innings for Team Elite. His fastball sat 82-84 mph, peaking at 86. Teammate RHP Sawyer Steele (2016, Newnan, GA) fanned six in 2.0 innings of relief. Team Elite 16s Prime downed the Upstate Mavericks 5-2 Friday night, improving to 1-0 on the first day of the National Qualifier. Leadoff hitter Darius Foster (2017, Suwanee, GA) recorded two hits and teammate James Nix (2017, Huntsville, AL) drove in two runs. 

RHP Jay Pendley (2017, Buford, GA) struck out a pair in 3.0 innings for Team Elite. He sat 80-84 mph with his fastball and flashed a few low-70s benders. 

LHP Thomas Reddin (2015, Suwanee, GA) fanned six in 5.0 innings for the Mavericks. He worked in the 77-81 mph range, and dropped in a few upper-60s curves. 


Chili Dogs survive game dominated by pitching

Adam Goodman (2015, Fayetteville, GA) and Jake McFarland (2015, McDonough, GA) drove in runs in HP Chili Dogs Maldonado's 2-0 win over Fat Cat Baseball Friday night. McFarland displayed a quick bat and balanced swing at the plate with gap-to-gap power.

RHP Caleb Dixon (2015, Cumming, GA) struck out five in 6.0 innings for Fat Cat. The 6-foot-3, 180-pounder showed good extension and a loose arm action, firing strikes at 78-81 mph. He also flashed an upper-60s breaking pitch.

OF/LHP Jabari Richards (2015, Fayetteville, GA) struck out five in 4.0 innings, throwing 30 of 45 pitches for strikes (67 percent). Richards displayed a smooth delivery and sound mechanics, working in the 80-83 mph range. RHP Jordan Schmits (2015, Sharpsburg, GA) struck out four in 2.0 innings of relief. He sat 85-88 mph, while mixing in a mid-70s curve.

Winston Cannon (2016, Cookeville, TN) homered and drove in three runs in Upper Cumberland Baseball's 6-4 win over TGBA Red Byams Friday night. Cannon displayed a fluid stroke and good bat speed at the plate, with leverage in his swing. 

Upper Cumberland teammate RHP Morgan Richards (2015, Crossville, TN) struck out 10 in 6.0 innings. He displayed a smooth delivery and a short arm action, working in the 74-78 mph range. Richards also flashed good command of a low-70s curve with 1/7 break.

For TGBA, Dillon Lancaster (2016, Buford, GA) went 2-for-3 with a triple, an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored. Teammate Parker Biederer (2016, Cumming, GA) went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Keyed by a five-run 4th inning, Team Elite 16s Louisville Slugger beat Excel Blue Wave 5-2 Friday night. RBI were recorded by Elite's Fitz Marren (2017, Cumming, GA), Michael Wright (2017, Winston, GA), Connor Weldy (2017, Cumming, GA) and Bailey Hopkins (2017, Snellville, GA). 

Dalton Cobb (2015, Alexandria, AL) led the Excel offense, going 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. The 5-foot-10, 185-pounder displayed a power approach at the plate, swinging from a slightly open stance.

RHP Jacob Arthur (2016, Tuscumbia, AL) struck out six in 3.2 innings for Excel. The 6-foot-5, 185-pounder flashed projectable stuff, working in the 79-83 mph range. Arthur also threw a low-70s curve and a low-70s changeup.



Nelson Baseball throws 1-hitter in 10-0 win

Nelson Baseball School 18u recorded nine hits -- including five extra-base knocks -- in their 10-0 win over Foundation Sports As 18u Lorow Friday night.

Jack Brannon (2015, Canton, GA), Cole Buffington (2015, Marietta, GA) and Canon Robinson (2015, Rydal, GA) recorded two hits each for Nelson. Brannon displayed a fluid stroke and an aggressive approach, going 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored from the leadoff spot. Buffington showed good bat speed and a linedrive swing, going 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, a stolen base, an RBI and two runs. Behind the dish, Buffington displayed soft hands and good receiving skills. He also showed a good arm and a quick release. 

LHP Chandler Adams (2015, Canton, GA) struck out 10 opposing batters in 4.0 scoreless innings, allowing just one hit. Adams displayed a smooth, deceptive delivery and good follow through, firing strikes at 81-84 mph. He also flashed an upper-60s curve with good depth and 11/5 break.

RHP Colin LoCurto (2015, Kennesaw, GA) struck out the side in an inning of relief for Nelson. He showed good command of his pitches, pounding the zone with a 75-77 mph fastball with sink. He also flashed a mid-60s breaking pitch.



GBSA Rays plate 12 runs in big win

The GBSA Rays scored in all six innings to beat Team Elite 17s Louisville Slugger 12-4 Friday night. Three different players recorded multiple hits for GBSA, including: Tekwaan Whyte (2015, Stone Mountain, GA), Bakari Gayle (2015, Peachtree City, GA) and Jordan Holloman Scott (2015, Conyes, GA). 

Whyte led all players with his 3-for-3 effort, filling the box score with a double, a walk, a stolen base, two RBI and three runs scored. Gayle also doubled, walked and scored twice. 

RHP Matt Krueger (2015, Covington, GA) struck out five in 6.0 innings on the mound for the Rays. 

For Team Elite, RHP Jack Utley (2016, Lawrenceville, GA) fanned five batters in 3.0 innings. He displayed good mound presence and a smooth delivery, firing strikes at 80-84 mph. Utley also flashed a low-70s curve with 12/6 break, and a mid-70s changeup. Teammate 1B/RHP Max Wadsworth (2016, Madison, GA) struck out a pair in 1.0 inning of relief. He threw 79-82 mph. At the plate, Wadsworth went 1-for-2 with a walk.

RHP Logan Mallory (2015, London, KY) started and pitched 6 innings for Elite, striking out six. He worked in the 78-84 mph range topping out at 88mph.

Braves ride 7-run 1st inning to big win

The East Cobb Braves 17u scored seven runs in the 1st inning to secure an 8-1 win over Team Carolina Friday night. The Braves needed just five hits to plate eight runs, including a pair of knocks by Alex Nuovo (2016, Powder Springs, GA). Teammate Rocky Brown (2016, Acworth, GA) hit a bases-clearing double to break the game open early.

RHP Zach Williams (2016, Rome, GA) struck out six in as many innings on the mound for the Braves, allowing just two hits. He fired strikes in the 77-82 mph range, while mixing in a mid-60s curve. C/RHP James Williams (2016, Kennesaw, GA) pitched a scoreless inning, striking out the side. He worked in the 83-86 mph range.

Luke Allen (2015, Winder, GA) and Jacob Fincher (2015, Jefferson, GA) drove in runs in GameFace's three-run 6th. Teammate Justice Leonardo (2015, Suwanee, GA) recorded the game's only extra-base hit -- a triple in the 5th inning.

LHP Bailey Mixon (2015, Lawrenceville, GA) struck out seven in 5.2 innings for GameFace. The southpaw threw 70-73 mph, peaking at 75. Mixon also flashed a mid-60s curve.

Cangelosi Black pounds-out 12 hits in 9-1 win

Cangelosi Black 2015 recorded 12 hits and scored in five different innings in their 9-1 win over Chirp Baseball Friday night. 

Eric Hansen (2015, Homer Glen, IL) and Richard Bryza (2015, Plainfield, IL) recorded multi-hit games to lead the Cengelosi offense. Hansen also stole a base and displayed a short, compact swing while driving in two runs, while Bryza showed gap power with a double. He also scored twice. Matthew Gruber (2015, Yorkville, IL) hit a two-run triple in the 4th inning, one of six extra-base hits by Cangelosi.

RHP Brenton Villasenor (2015, Lemont, IL) pitched all 7.0 innings for Cangelosi, striking out seven. He displayed good command and was around the plate with all his pitches, throwing 77-80 with armside run. Villasenor also flashed an upper-60s curve and a low-70s changeup.

West Virginia commit RHP Connor Bennett (2015, Buford, GA) struck out 15 batters and Chipola College commit Isaac Phillips (2015, Powder Springs, GA) recorded a two-run single in East Cobb Baseball Astros' 3-1 win over CStixx Friday night.

Bennett worked quickly in his 6.0 innings, attacking hitters with a fastball in the 87-89 mph range, peaking at 90. He also flashed a mid-70s curve. He walked one and scattered three hits, throwing 61 of 86 pitches for strikes (71 percent).

Georgia commit Zac Kristofak (2016, Marietta, GA) struck out two in his 1.0 inning of relief. Kristofak displayed a live arm, firing strikes in the 87-90 mph range.

RHP Casey Cobb (2015, Hamilton, GA) fanned five in as many innings for CStixx. The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder worked in the 82-87 mph range, peaking at 91. He also showed a low-70s curve.

The Southeast Reds defeated Team Elite 17's Black 11-1 to earn their first win of the tournament.  Leadoff man, Wesley Leamon (2015, Dlberville Senior HS, MS), went 3-4 with 1 double and 3 runs scored.  Joshua Lewis (2016, Theadore HS, AL) helped power the offense going 1-3 with a 3-run home run and William Freeman (2016, Faith Academy HS, AL) added in a 2-4 with 1 double, 2 runs scored and 3 RBI.  Jacob Lewis also showed well going 3-4 with 1 triple, 2 runs scored and 1 RBI.  Hayden Hamm (2016, Pascagoula HS, MS) continued the big offensive day going 2-4 with 1 run scored, 2 RBI and 1 stolen base.  

Mississippi State commit, Konnor Pilkington (2015, East Central HS, MS), earned the win for the Reds tossing 4 innings allowing just 1 run on 2 hits and 1 walk, while recording 10 strikeouts.  Pilkington used good command and used a bulldog mentality on the mound and he was aggressive with his 77-83/84 mph fastball, also mixing in a 65-69 mph curveball that had good depth and a 74-78 mph changeup. 

For Team Elite, Justin Phillips (2016, Kennesaw Mountain HS, GA) went 1-3 with 1 RBI and Shane Smith (2016, Hebron Christian Academy HS, GA) went 1-2 with 1 double, 1 run scored and 1 walk.

Blue Jays' reliever, Zachary Shirey (2015, Homeschooled, TX), impressed tossing 3 1/3 no-hit innings allowing just 1 walk, while recording 6 strikeouts.  Shirey showed impressive velocity on the mound with a 86-89 mph fastball with a 73 mph curveball.
