2006 Top Prospects

Anthony Butler  LHP - 2006 - Oak Creek, WI
Arkansas

Anthony Butler is a 2006 LHP with a 6'7'', 206 lb. frame from Oak Creek WI, who attends Oak Creek HS. The 6-7 Butler took time off from the basketball court, where he’s a standout, to throw 90 mph off the mound. He showed two good breaking balls and tons of projection. He could be something really special later this spring!

Justin Marks  LHP - 2006 - Owensboro, KY
Louisville

Justin Marks is a 2006 LHP with a 6'3'', 175 lb. frame from Owensboro KY, who attends Owensboro Catholic HS. Marks has all the pitches now and plenty of projection. He topped out at 88 mph with a quality curveball and change up, plus one of the best power (up to 80 mph) knuckleballs we’ve ever seen.

Matt Holliman  MIF - 2006 - Germantown, TN
Northwest Florida State College

Matt Holliman is a 2006 MIF with a 6'0'', 190 lb. frame from Germantown, TN, who attends Germantown HS. An infielder has to be a special hitter to stand out at an indoor pitcher/catcher showcase and Holliman is a special hitter. He attacks balls with easy plus bat speed and hit the top pitchers, even in a difficult indoor cage environment.

Buddy Baumann  LHP - 2006 - Rogersville, MO
Missouri State

Buddy Baumann is a 2006 LHP with a 5'10'', 180 lb. frame from Rogersville, MO, who attends Logan-Rogersville HS. The 5-10 Baumann was a pleasant surprise; a very athletic southpaw with a fastball up to 88 mph and a very sharp 74 mph curveball. He is going to be successful right away at the next level.

Jeremy Weih  C - 2006 - Wilton, IA
Uncommitted

Jeremy Weih is a 2006 C with a 6'0'', 195 lb. frame from Wilton, IA, who attends Wilton High School. Weih’s catching skills keep getting better and better. He hit the ball hard and everyone knows how good an overall athlete he is. The pro scouts should pay close attention to Weih this spring in our opinion.

Michael Bilicki  RHP - 2006 - Indianola, IA
Johnson County CC

Michael Bilicki is a 2006 RHP/1B with a 6'3'', 170 lb. frame from Indianola IA, who attends West Des Moines HS. Bilicki was one of the most projectable pitchers at the showcase. He is 6-3, 170 lbs with long and loose arms and legs. Bilicki throws in the mid-80’s with a good change up/curveball combination and will improve with more strength.

Christian Dekker  RHP - 2006 - Urbandale, IA
Uncommitted

Christian Dekker is a 2006 P/OF with a 6'5'', 185 lb. frame from Urbandale IA, who attends Urbandale Community HS. The staff couldn’t decide if the 6-5, 185 lb Dekker was a better hitting or pitching prospect. He throws in the low 80’s from the mound but is very projectable and swings the bat with big time power.

Brian Gass  LHP - 2006 - O'Fallon, IL
Indiana State

Brian Gass is a 2006 LHP/1B with a 6'1'', 205 lb. frame from O'Fallon IL, who attends O'Fallon HS. Gass is another left hander who should have immediate success at the next level. He’s big and strong with a nasty swing and miss curveball in the low 70’s to go along with a mid-80’s fastball.

John Plasha  C - 2006 - Media, PA
Uncommitted

John Plasha is a 2006 catcher with a 6'2'', 195 lb. frame from Media, PA, who attends Sun Valley High School. Plasha has all the basic tools you look for in a young catcher, along with a solid 6-2, 195 lb body. His bat and arm strength both play at a high level.

Michael Funk  RHP - 2006 - Leawood, KS
Uncommitted

Michael Funk is a 2006 RHP with a 6-1/180 frame from Blue Valley North, Leawood, KS. He topped out at 83 mph during the indoor and can really spot his pitches. We are sure he’s mid to better 80s during the season and his best pitch is the breaking ball.

Matt Holland  LHP - 2006 - Marion, IA
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi/Iowa Central CC

Matt Holland is a 2006 LHP/1B/OF with a 6'4'', 200 lb. frame from Marion IA, who attends Marion HS. Holland is a very projectable 6-4 left hander with a smooth arm and 83 mph fastball. The ingredients are all there for him to improve. Potential Sleeper!

Tyler Bugna  RHP - 2006 - Patterson, NY
Uncommitted

Tyler Bugna is a 2006 RHP with a 6-0/195 frame from Carmel HS, Patterson, NY. He’s a strong RHP who throws easy mid 80s, but we suspect he throws harder than that in season. Showed good command, down in the zone.

2007 Top Prospects

Seth Blair  RHP - 2007 - Rock Falls, IL
Arizona State

Blair was the top prospect at the Indoor Showcase and put himself on the national stage by throwing 92 mph with nasty boring and sinking life from a low ¾’s release point. He’s a very high ceiling prospect who will get lots of pro scouting attention.

Joseph Devine  RHP - 2007 - Henderson, KY
Louisville

Joseph Devine is a 2007 RHP/MIF with a 6'2'', 165 lb. frame from Henderson KY, who attends Owensboro Catholic HS. With Neil Holland and Justin Marks, Devine is part of a great Owensboro (KY) Catholic HS staff. He dominated hitters more than any other showcase pitcher, with a live mid-80’s fastball, a very sharp 74 mph curveball and lots of deception.

Neil Holland  RHP - 2007 - Owensboro, KY
Louisville

Neil Holland is a 2007 RHP/MIF with a 6'0'', 174 lb. frame from Owensboro KY, who attends Owensboro Catholic HS. Holland has a 6-0 middle infielder’s build and is very athletic. He was polished on the mound, with an 87 mph fastball and quality curveball and change up, plus the ability to throw consistent strikes.

Tyler Bevard  RHP - 2007 - Bettendorf, IA
Iowa Western CC

Tyler Bevard is a 2007 RHP/1B with a 6'2'', 205 lb. frame from Bettendorf IA, who attends Bettendorf HS. Brevard is a big, strong young right hander with an equally strong arm. He’s throwing 88 mph now and 90 is in his near future. Brevard’s hard breaking ball is a potential plus pitch.

Tim Barnum  RHP - 2007 - Cedar Rapids, IA
Valparaiso

Tim Barnum is a 2007 P/2B/SS with a 6'0'', 170 lb. frame from Cedar Rapids IA, who attends Xavier HS. Barnum is a primary infielder but he’s a pitching prospect, too. He throws in the 85-87 mph range from a low release point that creates nasty life.

Pete Jurich  C - 2007 - Munster, IN
Uncommitted

Pete Jurich is a 2007 Catcher with a 6-2/205 frame from Munster HS, IN, He is a strong catcher with good arm strength and receiving ability. Jurich is an aggressive hitter with outstanding power potential. Could end up being a very good college catcher.

Brad Allen  RHP - 2007 - Geneva, IL
Northern Illinois

Brad Allen is a 2007 RHP/1B with a 6-4/180 frame from Geneva, IL. He projects very nicely and shows present mid 80s velocity which will certainly go up. He also shows a nice sharp breaking ball. Allen also looks like a prospect at the plate. High ceiling RHP!

Lance Brown  RHP - 2007 - Mount Ayr, IA
South Alabama/Iowa Western CC

Lance Brown is a 2007 RHP with a 6-1/180 frame from Mt. Ayr, IA, He has a good athletic build and threw in the mid 80s with sink and running action. He also showed a good 2 plane breaking ball and two types of changeups. Good command of all his pitches.

Ryan Delf  C - 2007 - Blue Grass, IA
Uncommitted

Ryan Delf is a 2007 Catcher with a 5-11/190 frame from Davenport West HS, IA. Strong durable catcher with good receiving skills and solid arm strength. At the plate, Delf attacks strikes and shows excellent power potential with a very good contact swing. Good 07 follow.

Joel Delorit  LHP - 2007 - Sturgeon Bay, WI
Uncommitted

Joel Delorit is a 2007 LHP/OF with a 6-0/170 frame from Southern Door HS, Sturgeon Bay, WI. Good arm action with present 83 mph fastball. His best is yet to come and he can also swing the bat very well.

Andrew DeSousa  RHP - 2007 - Cedar Rapids, IA
Winona State

Andrew DeSousa is a 2007 RHP with a 6-1/180 frame from Xavier HS, Cedar Rapids, IA. He was only topping out at 83 indoors, but we’ve seen him higher and he’s been very successful at the high school level at a young age.

Tanner Neuberger  RHP - 2007 - West Des Moines, IA
Johnson County CC

Tanner Neuberger is a 2007 RHP with a tall 6-7/180 frame from Valley HS, W Des Moines, IA. He is a bit raw, but shows arm strength with the ability to fill the zone and he projects off the charts.

2008 Top Prospects

Brent Warren  OF - 2008 - Robins, IA
Oregon State

Brent Warren is a 2008 OF/P/1B with a 6'3'', 170 lb. frame from Robins IA, who attends Xavier HS. The 6-3, 170 lb Warren is a national level pitching prospect, with an easy arm action, an 85 mph fastball and power breaking ball. Some have said he’s a better outfield prospect, which would make him a really special player to watch!

Shane Blair  C - 2008 - Rock Falls, IL
Uncommitted

Seth Blair is a 2007 RHP/SS with a 6'2'', 190 lb. frame from Rock falls IL, who attends Rock Falls HS. Blair was the top prospect at the Indoor Showcase and put himself on the national stage by throwing 92 mph with nasty boring and sinking life from a low ¾’s release point. He’s a very high ceiling prospect who will get lots of pro scouting attention. Shane Blair is a 2008 C with a 5'10'', 175 lb. frame from Rock Falls, IL, who attends Rock Falls High School. Blair undoubtedly works on his receiving skills while catching older brother Seth. Shane is a prospect in his own right, with advanced defensive skills and an aggressive swing with good bat speed.

2009 Top Prospects

Craig Simonson  C - 2009 - Savage, MN
Uncommitted

Craig Simonson is a 2009 C/OF/3B with a 5'8'', 147 lb. frame from Savage, MN, who attends Burnsville High School. Simonson was one of the youngest players at the showcase but showed he could hold his own with even the 2006’s. He has very good bat quickness and handled hard throwing pitchers like a veteran. Very good follow!
