OF Michael Arencibia (Key West (FL) HS): Aflac All-American Arencibia showed his plus/plus speed and defensive ability, running a 6.38 60 and throwing 91 mph from the outfield in drills. He has a smooth left handed swing and developing power. Arencibia has signed with Florida State.

Jose Dore  OF - 2010 - Kissimmee, FL
Florida State

OF/RHP Josh Dore (The First Academy, Kissimmee, FL): Dore showed all his tools, running 6.97, swinging the bat left handed with plus bat speed and power and even throwing 88 mph off the mound. He has signed with Florida State.

Patrick Jones  OF - 2010 - Cincinnati, OH
Xavier

OF Patrick Jones (Moeller HS, Cincinnati, OH): Jones is a graceful 6-4 athlete with 6.7 speed and a good throwing arm, but it was his bat that was most impressive. He has very quick, strong hands and the ball was exploding off his bat. Jones has signed with Xavier.

Tyler Ross  C - 2010 - Naples, FL
Louisiana State

C Tyler Ross (Barron Collier HS, Naples, FL): The 6-3, 210 lb Ross showed a very good balance of defensive and offensive tools. He received the ball very cleanly behind the plate and has very polished, athletic throwing mechanics. Ross also showed very good bat speed from a calm, easy swing. He has signed with Louisiana State.

Jacques de Gruy  RHP - 2010 - Dallas, TX
Uncommitted

RHP Jacques De Gruy (Jesuit HS, Dallas, TX): DeGruy has a profile 6-4, 195 lb build and a very fast arm. He pitched consistently at 87-88 mph and showed perhaps the best breaking ball at the showcase, a mid-70’s hammer with seriously sharp bite at times. De Gruy has signed with Tulane.

Brett Winger  IF - 2010 - Windermere, FL
Michigan

RHP/1B Brett Winger (Olympia HS, Windemere, FL): Winger showed more polish with his 88 mph fastball, slider and change up than we’ve previously seen. We also hadn’t seen the kind of raw bat speed and power potential we saw. He could be a two-way standout at Michigan, where he’s signed.

Kyle Hayes  RHP - 2010 - Santee, CA
Oklahoma/Howard College

RHP Kyle Hayes (Santana HS, Santee, CA): The 6-2, 195 lb Hayes showed three potential pro level pitches in a upper 80’s fastball, mid 70’s curveball and nice change up. The most impressive part of his package, though, was the hard bat breaking life he consistently got on his fastball. Hayes has signed with San Diego State.

Omar Cotto Lozada  OF - 2010 - San Juan, PR
Uncommitted

OF Omar Cotto (The Bonneville School, San Juan, PR): Cotto’s blazing 6.32 speed under adverse conditions makes him a top prospect by itself but he also showed good bat speed from both sides of the plate and plenty of arm strength in the outfield. He could develop into the top prospect out of Puerto Rico this spring.

Wendell Soto  MIF - 2010 - Sarasota, FL
Florida International

SS Wendell Soto (Riverview HS, Sarasota, FL): Soto is an extremely agile and quick fielder with all the balance and actions to play at a very high level defensively. He’s a switch-hitter with 6.57 speed and a leadoff hitter’s set of tools. Soto has signed with Florida International.

Will Allen  C - 2010 - Gainesville, FL
Mississippi

C Will Allen (Buchholz HS, Gainesville, FL): Allen’s actions and quickness behind the plate looked smooth and natural and he’s always had a cannon arm. His swing was short and powerful for a 6-3 athlete and he has plus power potential. Allen has signed with Mississippi.

Michael Mayers  RHP - 2010 - Grove City, OH
Mississippi

RHP Michael Mayers (Grove City (OH) HS): The 6-4, 185 lb Mayers has a loose and athletic build that projects well and a smooth, fast arm. He topped out at 88 mph with occasional good running life and snapped off a couple of sharp 72 mph curveballs. Mayers has signed with Mississippi.

Wil Leathers  SS - 2010 - Greer, SC
South Carolina

IF Will Leathers (Riverside HS, Greer, SC): Leathers’ swing was very similar to Tommy Ferguson’s (see below), with near perfect swing fundamentals that should enable him to easily adjust to high level pitching. He profiles at second base defensively and has signed with South Carolina.

Tommy Ferguson  C - 2010 - Cumming, GA
Young Harris College

C Tommy Ferguson (West Forsythe HS, Cumming, GA): Ferguson has one of the simplest and shortest swings you’ll ever want to see and should be a very high average hitter at the next level. He’s new to catching, having formally played middle infield, and looked comfortable behind the plate. Ferguson has signed with Young Harris JC.

Brandon Bednar  SS - 2010 - Stuart, FL
Florida Gulf Coast

SS Brandon Bednar (South Fork HS, Stuart, FL): Bednar has an unusual 6-4, 165 lb build that belies his advanced athleticism. He ran a 6.78 60 and showed smooth defensive actions at shortstop and good arm strength from multiple arm angles. Bednar’s swing and bat speed were pretty impressive, too. He has signed with Florida Gulf Coast University.

Tyler Griffin  OF - 2010 - Hawthorne, FL
The Citadel

OF Tyler Griffin (Gainesville (FL) HS): Griffin is a very strong 6-0, 190 lb outfielder with 6.79 speed and very good outfield arm strength. He has plus bat speed from the right side of the plate and shows promise from the left side as well. He has signed with The Citadel.

Brad McKewon  MIF - 2010 - Omaha, NE
Creighton

SS Brad McKewon (Millard South HS, Omaha, NE): McKewon is an athletic middle infielder who shows flashes of all five tools. He has smooth defensive actions and 6.7 speed and showed a quick and short swing with gap type power.

Drew Farber  C - 2010 - Bethesda, MD
UNC-Wilmington

C Drew Farber (St. John’s HS, Bethesda, MD): Farber is a strong and athletic 6-1, 200 lb catcher with a good balance of tools. His catching actions and mechanics are smooth and fundamentally sound and he also has a short, fundamentally sound swing that produces line drives to all fields. He has signed with UNC-Wilmington.

Jacob Wright  OF - 2010 - Kannapolis, NC
Stanly CC

RHP/OF Jacob Wright (Stanley JC, NC): Wright is an extra strong 6-1, 220 lb 19 year old JC freshman with two big power tools. He was 88-91 mph on his fastball on a cold day when most pitchers were 3-4 mph slower than normal and also showed plus raw power at the plate.

Ivan De Jesus  OF - 2010 - San Juan, PR
Uncommitted

OF Ivan DeJesus (Cuppeyville School, San Juan, PR): DeJesus has centerfielder’s tools with 6.55 speed and quick and confident actions in the outfield. He has an aggressive line drive swing at the plate with good present bat speed and should get stronger when he fills out his 6-0, 175 lb frame.

Michael Maddle  C - 2010 - Tell City, IN
Gulf Coast CC

C Michael Maddle (Tell City (IN) HS): Maddle is a strong, compact 5-10, 185 lb catcher with one of the most mature and consistent hitting approaches in the 2010 class. He’s a high average line drive machine who has shown he can hit against top level pitching. Maddle’s catching tools can play at the next level and he’s a quick, agile athlete.

Willie Martin  RHP - 2010 - Odessa, FL
Liberty University

RHP/1B Willi Martin (Jesuit HS, Odessa, FL): Martin is a 6-3, 190 lb two-way prospect with a nice projectable frame. He was up to 86 mph on the mound with a hard spinning mid 70’s slurve type breaking ball and very good command of both pitches. Martin also showed very good bat speed with good hitting rhythm and nice extension out front. He has signed with Liberty.

Michael McGraw  MIF - 2010 - Newnan, GA
Bossier Parish CC

IF Michael McGraw (Newman (GA) HS): McGraw has an outstanding 6-3, 190 lb athletic build and projects tons of strength. He generates very good bat speed and shows serious lift in his swing at times. McGraw is athletic defensively with some arm strength but will likely end up at third base. He has signed with Bossier Parrish CC.

Nicholas Bergmann  RHP - 2010 - Houston, TX
Texas A&M

RHP Nicholas Bergman (Memorial HS, Houston, TX): Bergman has a long and lean 6-5, 210 lb build and a long loose arm action and high ¾’s release that gives him ideal downhill angle to the plate. He topped out at 87 mph with occasional good cutting life and threw a sharp biting downer curveball.

Mario Urdaneta  SS - 2010 - Ocala, FL
Uncommitted

OF Mario Urdaneta (Forest HS, Ocala, FL): Urdaneta doesn’t look imposing at 5-10, 160 lbs but had one of the quickest left handed swings at the event. His hands are explosive to the ball and he drove line drives hard to all fields with what looked like minimal effort.

Matt Dearden  RHP - 2010 - Newberry, FL
Indiana

RHP Matt Deardon (Gainesville (FL) HS): Deardon is a strongly build 6-0 right hander with a deceptive delivery and excellent command and pitchability. He topped out at 87 mph after throwing 91 mph in the summer and showed a quality curveball and change up. He has signed with Indiana.

Enmanuel Cabreja  C - 2010 - Coral Gables, FL
Columbia

C Emmanuel Cabreja (Westminster Christian HS, Coral Gables, FL): Cabreja showed some of the best defensive actions of anyone at the showcase, with good quickness and balance behind the plate and a smooth, compact release that consistently posted pop times between 1.8 and 1.9 seconds. He has signed with Columbia University.

Bryan Soloman  3B - 2010 - Jackson, NJ
Eastern Kentucky

3B/RHP Bryan Soloman (Memorial HS, Jackson, NJ): Soloman is an extra strong 6-3, 230 lb power hitter with an aggressive, long swing that can drive the ball a long way. He showed a mature game approach against good pitching games as well and threw 87 mph off the mound with life when given a chance to pitch him himself. Soloman has signed with Eastern Kentucky.

Bo Logan  LHP - 2010 - Naples, FL
Florida Atlantic

LHP Bo Logan (Gulf Coast HS, Naples, FL): Logan is an athletic southpaw with a very deceptive low ¾’s to occasionally side arm release point. His big sweeping curveball should abuse left handed hitters and he can get his fastball up into the mid 80’s. He’s signed with Florida Atlantic.

Cody Hoffner  3B - 2010 - Sebring, FL
Daytona State College

3B Cody Hoffner (Sebring (FL) HS): Hoffner is a very strong 6-2, 200 lb third baseman with a polished, professional approach and swing at the plate. He generates very good bat speed and has some lift at the end of his swing that promises future power. Hoffner has signed with Daytona CC.

Uncommitted

RHP Richard Turner (Alexander HS, Whitesburg, GA): Turner has a long limbed 6-3, 175 lb build and a low ¾’s release point that is very intimidating to right handed hitters. He topped out at 88 mph with very good hard boring life on his fastball and also threw a big sweeping low 70’s curveball.

2011 Top Prospects

Joshua Tobias  MIF - 2011 - Greensboro, NC
Florida

IF Joshua Tobias (2011/Guillford Southeast HS, Greensboro, NC): The switch-hitting Tobias had the best raw bat speed of any hitter at the event from the right side and was pretty good from the left side as well. He’s a 6.61 runner and very athletic defensively in the middle infield. He has made a verbal commitment to Florida.

Bryan Brickhouse  RHP - 2011 - The Woodlands, TX
North Carolina

RHP Bryan Brickhouse (2011/The Woodlands (TX) HS): Brickhouse showed four very good present pitches, including a hammer of a curveball, and threw up to 88 mph with his fastball. He should just keep improving over the next few years. Brickhouse has a verbal commitment to North Carolina.

Drake Roberts  MIF - 2011 - Washington, TX
Oklahoma

SS Drake Roberts (2011/Brenham (TX) HS): Roberts is a smaller player with a big bat that should keep improving. He looked very smooth at shortstop with a quick release and accurate arm. He’s verbally committed to Arkansas.

Andrew Murray  C - 2011 - Westfield, NJ
Georgia Tech

C Andrew Murray (2011/Westfield (NJ) HS): Murray is an extremely strong 6-2, 210 receiver but is very athletic and a 6.95 runner. His best present tool is his bat, though, as he keeps his swing very short and quick to the ball for a hitter with plus power potential.

Alex Santana  3B - 2011 - Cape Coral, FL
Florida Atlantic

3B Alex Santana (2011/Mariner HS, Cape Coral, FL): Santana has an outstanding athletic build for a junior and could easily develop plus strength down the road. He has tons of lift in his swing for future power and showed his athleticism with a 6.97 60.
