2016 Top Prospects

Alec Creel  RHP - 2016 - Wake Forest, NC
TCU

Creel has the ability to play multiple positions at a high level. His strong arm is his best tool which he showcased throwing 92 from the outfield, and topping out at 89 on the mound. The ball explodes out of his hand, and gets on hitters quickly. Creel’s good arm speed and strong forearms profile for added velocity in the future.

Zack Smith  C - 2016 - Goldsboro, NC
University of North Carolina-Charlotte

Smith proved to be a very versatile player throwing 83 across the infield, 80 from behind the plate, and toped out at 88 on the mound. His bat showed well during BP in which he launched a long home run, and made consistent loud contact in games.

Stew Merdian  RHP - 2016 - Galax, VA
Uncommitted

Merdian may still be growing into his large 6’3” 200 lbs frame, but he already looks matured. He threw 85 across the infield as well as off the mound. Hitting form a slightly crouched stance Merdian showed the ability to make hard contact the other way.

Spencer Brickhouse  1B - 2016 - Zebulon, NC
East Carolina

Brickhoue’s name is fitting for his present physical stature. He uses his large frame to get leverage at the plate while hitting for power to all fields. He showed very good in game plate coverage. During game action Brickhouse produced multiple Major League foul balls; including one at 5.90 seconds.

Andrew LaFlam  RHP - 2016 - Simpsonville, SC
Army

LaFlam took one of the better rounds of BP including a long homerun. His long limbs create good extension at the plate, and he showed good bat speed. LaFlam also impressed touching 84 on the mound.

McCann Mellett  2B - 2016 - Charlotte, NC
Wingate

Mellett gets everything out of his medium frame at the plate. He used a compact swing and good bat speed to hit for a high average during the games.

Trent Alley  RHP - 2016 - Charlotte, NC
Palm Beach Atlantic

Alley is a tall lean pitcher that projects more as he fills out his 6’4” frame. His future may be on the mound where his fastball touched 85 complemented by a 69 curveball and low 70’s changeup.


2017 Top Prospects

Austin Beck  OF - 2017 - Arcadia, NC
North Carolina

Beck is a freak on the field possessing plus tools across the board. Beck turned in the most impressive workouts results over the weekend; running the 60 in 6.52 seconds, and throwing 91 from the outfield. His BP was very loud as he drove the ball all over the park. He gets great extension and leverage from his medium frame. The ceiling is for Beck is very high as he continues to mature.

Drew Donathan  C - 2017 - Charlotte, NC
Clemson

Donathan’s arm was on display this weekend as he gunned down would be base stealers at second and third. He recorded a 2.02 pop time and threw 81 from behind the plate during workouts. He also touched 84 on the mound in game action.

Brandon Dorsey  3B - 2017 - Mount Airy, MD
Wallace CC-Dothan

Dorsey profiles to play a corner spot at the next level. He posses a strong lower half that helps his plus arm. He threw 86 across the infield during workouts.


2018 Top Prospects

Jonah Beamon  SS - 2018 - Charlotte, NC
South Carolina

Beamon is a switch hitting MIF that played well above his age. Defensively he made all the plays in the game showing great range, and threw 85 across the infield in workouts. Top of the order type guy that sprays the ball all over the field. Beamon will be a pest for pitchers to get out for years to come.

Justin Jarvis  RHP - 2018 - Mooresville, NC
UNC-Wilmington

Jarvis stands 6’ while weighing in at 135 there is plenty of room to fill. His fastball reached 79, and he attacked hitters with a tight spinning 74 slider. Long arm action that helps his low 70’s changeup remain deceptive. Jarvis has a high upside.
