2015 Top Prospects

Quinton Smithwick  RHP - 2015 - Orange Grove, TX
St. Mary’s University (Texas)

Smithwick light up the radar guns with a fastball that worked in the 87-90 mph range and bumped a 91. He did a nice job of locating to both sides of the plate, especially his glove side and showed a feel for two secondary offerings.

Elijah MacNamee  OF - 2015 - Cypress, TX
Mississippi State/Blinn College

MacNamee showed loud tools all over the field with loose, athletic actions in the outfield and big time arm strength with a top throw of 94 mph. His arm strength also plays on the mound, up to 87 mph, while showing a nice feel for the barrel with extension in his right handed swing.

Weston Brown  RHP - 2015 - Cypress, TX

Brown is a highly athletic right-handed pitcher who not only did his thing on the mound, topping at 87 mph with a loose arm action and a feel for 2 secondary pitches, but he also ran a 6.65 60-yard dash and threw an impressive 92 mph from the outfield.

Parker Towns  RHP - 2015 - Tyler, TX
Dallas Baptist/Howard College

With a strong 6-foot-4 frame, Towns did a nice job of getting on top of his fastball and worked it in the lower quadrants of the strike zone, peaking at 88 mph throughout his outing. He displayed the ability to throw a four pitch mix for strikes and the feel to throw them in any count.

Nick Poirier  SS - 2015 - Alamo, CA
UC Santa Barbara

With an athletic, projectable build, Poirier showed well all weekend, both up the middle and with the bat. He shows sound actions with quick feet and good arm strength across at shortstop and swung the bat well with quick hands and some strength from the right side.

Josh Eckerman  3B - 2015 - Dayton, TX

Eckerman showed off his arm strength across the diamond throwing 86 mph across and then topped out at 84 mph on the mound. He has a nice weekend at the plate too, showing a feel for the barrel en route to picking up hits in game action.

Kyle Finkenstaedt  SS - 2015 - Houston, TX

Finkenstaedt turned in the second fastest 60-yard dash time at 6.68 and used his speed well on the base paths. A switch hitter, Finkenstaedt also showed strength from the left side with a home run to right field and a nice feel for the barrel.

Marco Garcia  RHP - 2015 - Tomball, TX

A primary right-handed pitcher, Garcia showed off his arm strength all over the field this weekend (88 from the outfield, 85 across the infield) and of course on the mound. With a loose, easy arm action, Garcia topped out at 86 mph on the mound while flashing a solid changeup to keep hitters off balance.

Grant Golson  OF - 2015 - Cypress, TX
Howard College

Golson's bat was on display during both batting practice and in game at-bats, showing a solid line drive swing plane with carry off the barrel. His bat speed is solid as are his other tools, running a 6.93 60-yard dash and throwing 80 mph from the outfield.

Austin Kelley  RHP - 2015 - Cypress, TX

Kelley showed a balanced delivery in the mound with a quick, compact arm action that he used to deliver a three-pitch mix over his time on the mound. He topped out at 85 mph with his fastball which he located to both sides and had a nice feel for a tight spinning 11-5 curveball and a feel for his changeup at 77 mph.

Cole Kelly  MIF - 2015 - Sugar Land, TX

Kelly showed nice all around tools this weekend with athletic actions up the middle while displayed vertical range to either side. He ran a 6.90 60-yard dash and threw 84 mph across to go along with a fluid, leveraged swing from the right side.

Ryan Lawhon  OF - 2015 - Houston, TX

A primary outfielder, Lawhon showed nice defensive tools this weekend, showing good footwork to the ball and plenty of arm strength, carry, and accuracy on this throws. His top velocity was 91 mph and he also ran a 6.91 60-yard dash.

Cody Lee  C - 2015 - Missouri City, TX

Lee displayed some of the top tools behind the plate this weekend, popping a 1.97 and threw 76 mph down to second base. He showed a nice middle of the field approach at the plate with interesting power potential and strength coming off the barrel.

Jason Reitmeier  OF - 2015 - McKinney, TX

Reitmeier showed a nice bat from the right side during batting practice with nice extension and lift in swing and strength to pull side at contact. His tools don't end there though as he ran a 7.02 60-yard dash and threw 86 mph from the outfield showing an easy arm action and sound defensive actions.

Watson tied for the top velocity across the diamond this weekend with a throw of 86 mph while showing soft hands and athletic actions. He also ran a 7.08 60-yard dash.

Wieligman showed off his arm strength this weekend, throwing 85 mph across the diamond and then topped out at 86 mph from the outfield. His speed plays well in game and on the bases and shows strength in the batters box with some strength to pull side gap.
