2016 Top Prospects

Maverick Handley  C - 2016 - Lakewood, CO
Stanford

Handley is a bundle of energy on the field and obviously enjoys playing. The Stanford commit showed outstanding defensively ability with quickness, a big arm and sound footwork and also showed his athleticism in infield drills. Handley also has very good right handed bat speed.

Nathan Sweeney  RHP - 2016 - Centennial, CO
Arizona/San Jacinto CC

Sweeney has an electric arm and was up to 92 mph with big life down in the strike zone. His off speed stuff is still young but his fastball grades up due to the life and location. The 6-3/185 Sweeney is also a very good athlete with 6.9 speed.

Bo Weiss  RHP - 2016 - Castle Rock, CO
North Carolina

Weiss threw free and easy up to 91 mph from a high 3/4's arm action and worked downhill to the bottom of the strike zone well. He only threw a couple of secondary pitches and will have to start incorporating those more in the future.

Kole Lane  SS - 2016 - Eagle, ID
Uncommitted

Lane's 2015 brother Cam was the top prospect at the 2014 Rocky Mountain and although Kole is a different type of athlete, he is also a high level prospect. He really impressed with his agility and overall actions on defense at shortstop and third base.

Jake Eissler  RHP - 2016 - Littleton, CO
TCU

Eissler showed big tools on both sides of the ball. He threw in the upper 80's on the mound, using his strong lower half well in his delivery, and showed hard spin and sharpness on a 74 mph curveball. He has very sound and simple hitting mechanics at the plate and squared the ball up hard consistently.

Austin Wood  RHP - 2016 - Niwot, CO
Furman

Wood has a nice 6-5/200 pitcher's build and a loose and fast arm from a straight over the top arm angle and release. His mid to upper 80's fastball had severe downhill angle when he got it down in the strike zone. Wood also threw a downer curveball at 73 mph with good depth.

Chris Diehl  C - 2016 - Fort Collins, CO
Utah/Central Arizona CC

Diehl was the second best all around catcher at the event and especially stood out on defense with his overall athleticism, tools and a vocal style of leadership that we appreciated. His right handed bat also had good strength.

Travis Marr  RHP - 2016 - Castle Rock, CO
Clemson

Marr is a quality two-way prospect and has more strength than his 6-3/195 build would indicate. He was up to 89 mph on the mound with a promising low 70's curveball. Marr's strength really plays as a right handed hitter, where he showed very good bat speed.

Tommy Gillman  SS - 2016 - Littleton, CO
Texas A&M

Gillman is a polished switch-hitting middle infielder with a verbal commitment to Texas A&M whose best tool is his left handed bat speed. He seemed to be a favorite with the local coaches we talked to because of his hard nosed style of play.

Issac Bracken  MIF - 2016 - Berthoud, CO
Northern Colorado

Bracken is still a primary shortstop but we think he will eventually mature into a primary pitcher. He was up to 89 off the mound and showed some feel for his slider and change up.

Zacary Zagozda  LHP - 2016 - Omaha, NE
Uncommitted

Zagozda is a funky left with a deceptive pitching style, the type who is always going to be effective if he is throwing strikes. The Nebraskan also showed four solid pitches, including a mid-80's fastball, a tantalizing slow curveball and a nice change up.

Jordan Luthi  OF - 2016 - Broomfield, CO
Hutchinson CC

Luthi has a nice combination of tools and plenty of projection on his 6-0/165 frame. He ran a 7.01 sixty, threw 87 from the outfield and showed good bat speed with some interesting lift in his swing.

Bailey Collins  OF - 2016 - Littleton, CO
Concordia University (California)

Collins has a sweet left handed swing with lots of bat speed and some power potential. His 5-11/185 frame packs plenty of strength and he projects well to keep improving.

Najee Gaskins  OF - 2016 - Vail, AZ
Arizona Western College

Gaskins right handed swing fundamentals are top notch, especially how he uses his lower half and movement towards contact to generate bat speed. We're still waiting for him to get stronger as he has such a good base to develop from.

Cole McKissock  SS - 2016 - Colorado Springs, CO
Chipola College

McKissock has a nice, loose athletic build that projects well and plenty of present tools. He ran a 6.86 and had nice actions and arm strength at shortstop.

Nick Spiliotis  RHP - 2016 - Parker, CO
Dayton

Spiliotis participated as a primary pitcher but graded out significantly higher as a left handed hitting outfielder. He moves into contact hard and explodes his hands at contact with authority, creating lots of bat speed.

Cole Johnson  C - 2016 - Omaha, NE
Howard College

Johnson is a very advanced defensive player with a quick release throwing and a quick lower half that really plays up blocking the ball. His right handed swing is loose with enough bat speed to drive the ball to the right centerfield gap from an inside swing path.

Brice Johnson  LHP - 2016 - Colorado Springs, CO
Creighton

It's always nice to see loose 6-6/195 left handed pitchers and Johnson was easy to project. He was up to 83 mph with a nice change up and filled up the strike zone with both pitches, plus a short slider.

2017 Top Prospects

Blake Rohm  OF - 2017 - Superior, CO
Virginia

Rohm's wiry and athletic 6-4/175 build really stands out and he has tools to go with it. He ran a 6.92 sixty with long, easy strides, showed right handed bat speed and even threw up to 84 mph on the mound. He'll be a fun one to watch develop as he gets stronger.

Garrett Kocis  1B - 2017 - Omaha, NE
Wichita State

Kocis stands out with his strong 6-3/195 frame and has tools on both sides of the ball. He has lots of left handed bat speed with big hand use to drive the barrel. He also was up to 85 mph on the mound and has lots of projection as a pitcher.

Colton Talton  1B - 2017 - Pueblo, CO
Linn-Benton CC

Talton has a strong and compact right handed swing that has lots of present power. He drove a ball about 360-370 feet over the right field fence for a home run on Sunday but had already caught the PG scout's attention with two massive pop ups earlier in the game.

Caleb Sloan  RHP - 2017 - Centennial, CO
TCU

Sloan has a compact delivery and arm action that generates a mid-80's fastball that topped out at 87 mph. His breaking ball was a big sweeping slurve in the mid-70's that was very effective when thrown for strikes.

Drake Davis  RHP - 2017 - Highlands Ranch, CO
Arizona State

Davis has a nice combination of physical tools and could continue to develop as a two-way prospect. He runs a 7.0 sixty, has some right handed bat speed and threw up to 85 mph on the mound with big life.

Patrick O'Connell  3B - 2017 - Kalispell, MT
Uncommitted

O'Connell is a rare player from Montana and his right handed bat must really stand out in that state. He attacks the ball very aggressively with a strong and extended swing and the ball really comes off the barrel well.

Willie Gordon  C - 2017 - Denver, NC
Presbyterian/Catawba Valley CC

The 6-2/210 Gordon is very strong for his class and uses that strength well in a short and crisp line drive swing. He also had solid defensive tools and popped 1.96 in drills.

Conner Nantkes  LHP - 2017 - Aurora, CO
Washington State

Nantkes has a nice projectable 6-2/175 build and got his fastball up to 83 mph with good life at times. He also showed some feel for a hard curveball and change up.

Duncan O'Boyle  C - 2017 - Omaha, NE
Lincoln Memorial

O'Boyle has a well rounded tool set for a catcher, with both good quickness and athleticism on defense and some right handed bat speed generated in part by very good lower half use in his swing.

Kyle Cardona  SS - 2017 - Parker, CO
Uncommitted

Cardona is a strong fundamental player both on defense, where he shows sound footwork with a quick release, and on offense, where his right handed swing is short and crisp with good extension through contact.

2018 Top Prospects

Jordan Medina  C - 2018 - Lone Tree, CO
Northern Colorado

Medina has very good strength for his age but also is athletic and has a wide variety of tools. He played both middle infielder and catcher, plus was up to 82 mph on the mound. Has a pull and lift approach at the plate with good bat speed.

Stryker Lewis  OF - 2018 - Cherry Hills Village, CO
Uncommitted

Aside from having a very good baseball name, Lewis also has very good right handed bat speed for his age and plenty of athletic projection.

2019 Top Prospects

Dominic Tamez  C - 2019 - San Antonio, TX
Alabama/McLennan CC

Tamez didn't look anything like an 8th grader from the start of drills to the end of games. He threw 76 mph and popped 1.91 in catcher drills, caught Nathan Sweeney throwing 89-92 flawlessly and lined a triple over the right fielder's head off an 88 mph Austin Wood fastball.
