quick question DM. are we gonna do predictions for the SR if both cal and/or ariz advance? that WOULD give us 5 series to predict should they both win today

With that many teams, it's probably doable. I'd have to create a slightly different rubric, but there would still be four possible outcomes.

Okay, look for one tomorrow.

Esquer leaves Erik Johnson in probably three batters too long. He walked three straight to lead off the 4th, then gave up back-to-back doubles to turn a 1-0 lead into a 4-1 deficit. I don't now how you can leave a guy in after walking two to start an inning in such a crucial game. But three? Then let him give up two deep doubles? Looking tough for the Golden Bears (as opposed to the Baylor Bears) to win now.

Regardless of the outcome of the Cal and Arizona Game Fives, both of those teams have pushed to the 3+ status, so we can list the scores....

Results:
  • Ariz 3+
  • ASU 3-0
  • Cal 3+
  • OSU 3-0
  • Stan 3-0
  • UCLA 2-2
Scores:
  • 27 Dodger Matt
  • 21 ConnorOSU1
  • 20 Florida Beaver
  • 19 opihi man
  • 18 BeaverBob
  • 18 borgguy
  • 18 SouthernBeaver
  • 14 MostUnknown
  • 14 rec1347
  • 13 ASU74
  • 13 BeaverBeliever20
  • 12 RiverDuck
Score analysis:
  • DM got four of six regionals right, only missing Stanford and UCLA.
  • Three people got two regionals right.
  • Three people got none right.
  • Top regional was a tie: Four people correctly picked OSU and ASU to sweep 3-0, for an average score of 3.92.
  • Three people correctly picked Arizona to go 3+, with an average score for this regional on only 2.65.
  • Two correctly picked UCLA to go 2-2 (although I think at least one of them was expecting Fresno State to end the Bruins' season). Average score was 2.58.
  • Only one picked Stanford to sweep 3-0, for an average score of 2.75.
  • Only one picked Cal to go 3+ for a regional average score low of 1.75.
Conference analysis:
  • Four Pac-10 teams have advanced, and one more (Arizona) still has a chance tomorrow.
  • Four SEC teams and three ACC teams have advanced.
  • With one game left to play, the Pac-10 has a record of 18-4 (.818), the highest of all conferences.
  • If Arizona loses, the Pac-10 will still have the best record in regional play (18-5, .783), with Independents (Dallas Baptist) second with a record of 3-1 (.750), and the SEC third with a 17-6 record (.739).
Updated with the Cal/Baylor game in the books.

Did you hear the Cal announcer say, "This is an amazing game. I hope you're all listening to this. Wait, of course you're listening...."

I sure did. I really enjoyed listening to this announcer. Another quote to add to the Yogi Book.

Good job DM. I should of had you with me in Reno this last weekend. My golf was okay, but my blackjack bets looked more like Riverduck's.

The funny thing is people were posting in Kendall's chat on the first day how disappointing the PAC-10 is this year after judging their Day 1 regional performance. With only hosting 3 regional's the PAC-10 did more with less (compared to the ACC, Big-12, SEC) and this includes UCLA's implosion S&M Abuse.

boink I was one of the two, but not so much expecting to end UCLA's season as hoping to extend Fresno State's. Got bombed two and out instead.

Interesting article on Beavs, Gavligio, and Osich. Didn't realize Osich has having some pain in his shoulder. Not many people giving OSU a chance to win.
