Fullerton has some big issues. Kendall I know you were at the game and what you saw is what you will be seeing this year.

I read a post on the Fullerton web site and the fans just went off on this person. Then it turns out Coach Serrano said the same thing. I will wait for their comments this weekend.

We have good pitching and Noe pitched well tonight. But our pitchers have to pitch shut outs for us to win games.

Our hitting is just not good. Bigger issue is we can’t get a hit when it matters. That is the key, getting a hit when it MATTERS.

Let me break it down:
We have 3 batters who just can’t hit. They can bunt and that is about it. So it is like we are playing with 6 hitters in the lineup and giving up a lot of outs every game. The centerfielder, second baseman and our catcher. Maybe the coaches need to try someone else, it couldn’t hurt. Our big hitters can’t get a hit when it matters. You saw that tonight and that happen all last weekend. We left bases loaded too many times I can’t remember. Tonight we had based loaded with one out and get one run. Then we had men on second and third with one out and got no runs. Those were our #3 and #4 batters who came up. Our catching is just not up to par. Everyone can run on us. Then add that they aren’t producing at the plate means no production at all.[/ol]
This is a regional team. If our pitching is awesome in the regionals we might make it to the super regionals.

Sometimes you just need to be honest. There it is.

Nothing like pushing the panic button after five games. Fullerton sure looked like a "regional at best" caliber team today......

If you are the same fullertonalum as on the Fullerton message board, why don't you post your opinion there to give people a chance to debate your position? You post there enough. Afraid of having to defend your position someplace where more Fullerton people are posting? If you aren't fullertonalum on the Fullerton board, never mind.

In the interest of full disclosure, what PaulJoseph (a notorious hot head) wrote on the Fullerton board was that the team's performance against Long Beach was shameful. That's why people went off on him - because he is a hot head and because shameful isn't appropriate adjective for players who are giving an effort. Shameful is what would be appropriate for somebody who dogs it on the field and isn't trying.

Serrano did not say that the team's performance was shameful. What he said was he was mystified by how the team played and they didn't play like they trusted each other in that game. Slightly different, wouldn't you say? I notice you neglected to write that Serrano said the next day that he was proud of the team after they beat Long Beach.

You wrote that the C, 2B and CF can't hit and that the coaches should try other players. They have already played three C's so it's not like they haven't given a bunch of guys a shot there. Deacon is the best player at that spot. The 2B they would like to try (Barber) is hurt and can't play the field or else he would have been in there already. Kingsolver is the best defensive OF on the team and can hit RHP so that's why he's in the lineup in CF. Don't let facts get in your way.

Has Fullerton struggled to score runs this year? Yes. That is a fact. Fullerton ran into a solid SP and some good arms from UNC (lost in 11 innings), ran into a 1st-2nd round pick from Long Beach (won the game), a 6th-8th round pick from Long Beach (won the game) and an All-American from TCU. In the other two games Fullerton got 18 hits in one of them and today scored 8 runs against the 2010 MWC pitcher of the year and TCU's closer. Fullerton has faced some very good pitching and will face an outstanding pitcher tomorrow.

Fullerton was a different team today! Deacon(Catcher) did an outstanding job and got a very clutch hit! Kingslover can hit but everytime he goes to the plate Bergie has him bunting...even when the 3rd baseman is playing in. Tyler Pill pitched great, Floethe came in and struckout the first hitter and got the next guy to top the ball to Richie but got out of trouble still in the lead. Denvenski has a great arm but he is inconsistant. Needs to pound the strike zone. Titans start slow so if we win tomorrow we will be a good omen!!! Colin is nails!

Mark Twain, upon hearing about his own death - "The rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated."

Oustanding comeback by Fullerton today with a run in the 8th to tie it up and a run in the 9th to win the game and the series. Purke didn't pitch but it's doubtful he could do much better for 7 innings than Mitchell and Appleby did in holding Fullerton to no runs on two hits.
