WALNUT CREEK, Calif. — UCLA junior outfielder Jeff Gelalich has been named Pac-12 Player of the Week and Bruin sophomore right-handed pitcher Adam Plutko has been named Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week for March 5-11, Commissioner Larry Scott announced Tuesday.
Gelalich batted .563 (9-for-16) with one double and three runs over UCLA’s four wins last week. He went 9-for-13 (.692) in the three-game series sweep at No. 9 Georgia. Gelalich collected a career-high four hits in a 4-for-4 effort with one double on Friday, went 3-for-4 on Saturday and finished the series going 2-for-5 on Sunday. He leads UCLA’s offense with a .491 batting average through 15 games (27-for-55, 3 HR, 5 2B, 12 RBI, 17 runs).
This is Gelalich’s second career Pac-12 Player of the Week honor and the 53rd all-time selection for UCLA. The La Verne, Calif., native received his first weekly honor on Feb. 28.

Plutko’s start helped UCLA sweep the Bulldogs in Athens, Ga. The right-hander from Upland, Calif., allowed just one baserunner (fielding error by shortstop) from the second through fifth innings. Plutko improved to 2-1, lowering his ERA to 2.13. He leads UCLA’s pitching staff with 33 strikeouts in 25.1 innings.
