Freshman Left Handed Pitcher Kent Emanuel pitched 8 shutout innings for the University of North Carolina against Charlotte today at Boshamer Stadium. The freshman threw 91 pitches over 8 innings with 64 strikes while not allowing a walk and only giving up 4 hits.

He ended up giving up two runs in the 9th while only one was earned while striking out 9 batters. His fastball command was superlative according to catcher Jacob Stallings after the game.

Sophomore closer Cody Penny entered the game and earned his third save of the year for the Tar Heels. The only downside for the Diamond Heels was stranding 12 runners during the game after scoring 3 runs in the first inning against the 49ers.

Emanuel threw 90% fastballs and mixed in a curve, forkball and change. According to catcher Jacob Stallings after the game the one thing that could really benefit Emanuel is a hard slider type breaking ball.

I also can confirm reports on 89-91 touching 94

Thanks so much, guys. He and Andrew Mitchell are two of the first freshmen starters on my follow list.

Another stunning Tuesday night start for the precocious freshman southpaw. This time he mixed in more cut fastballs to right handed batters and only allowed one hit over six innings only walking one batter while striking out 6 in route to the Tar Heels 16-0 drubbing of SoCon powerhouse Elon at Boshamer Stadium (that won a series opening week against NC State).

The kid looks like a stud so far. It will be interesting to see how he fares against weekend competition, but he's been nothing short of dominant in two starts.

He's been great so far.. but lets just wait to crown him god.

I watched him pitch against East Cobb teams and he was good, but not great. Got shelled a couple of times Vs. East Cobb Yankees for 6-7 runs (Wood bats).

Good to see this kid getting it done. From the great state of GA. Always pumping kids out left and right.

He's improved a great deal. He's beating a lot better than the East Cobb Yankees at this point.
