Some major disappointments so far this year on the national stage, for teams that started the year with much preseason hype. The first two on this list are way below expectations.
- TCU 1-7
- Florida 3-7
- New Mexico 2-4
- San Diego 4-5
- Baylor 4-5
Some upsets or roadbumps that will probably disappear over the long season but make for interesting conversation:
- #3 Arkansas (7-3) losing two straight to ASU and Gonzaga. They play ASU again today.
- Texas A&M (7-4) losing twice to Pepperdine, then yesterday to Houston. They face Rice today then North Carolina tomorrow.
Any other surprise disappointments or upcoming danger zones for nationally ranked teams?

That could happen.
Here's an interesting comment from Eric Sorenson on yesterday's game:
"[A]n inning later, the Big Elephants scored four more runs, keyed by Anthony Hutting hitting an inside-the-park home run after slicing the ball down the right field line and hustling around the basepaths without stopping. Meanwhile, Oregon right fielder Kyle Garlick threw his hands up wanting the ground-rule double call. First base umpire Johnny Pindea would have none of it and called the hit “fair” with no obstruction. That would get George Horton out of the dugout, but the odd thing is that coach Horton barely put up much of an argument. He must’ve known Garlick was just trying to “fake” his way into holding Hutting to a double. No dice son."
What up with Ducks trying this kinda thing all the time? :p

Yeah, the ducks schedule unlike the Beavs is more problematic. I would hope the ducks don't get swept, but you never know. Our weakness at the catcher area, and our number 1 not pitching well early on does not bode well. The bats have always been an issue, but our number 1 has always taken the sting out of the opposing batters run production. This year seems different. I am wondering if the ducks number 1 and two pitchers, are actually pitching on day 2 and 3..

Have you looked at the Beavs PAC12 home/away schedule....please. I see CSF and Vandy (@ Home) for the Ducks, but the Beavs PAC12 schedule is BRUTAL.

They really do, CryCry SmellyBelly is the worst offender, he irritates the crap out of me, just a whiny cheater...glad to see him go.
Did Horton coach like this at CSF, or is there just something in the water in Eugene?

Arkansas loses its third straight game, 3-1, again to Arizona State. They came out west with a 7-1 record and now are 7-4.
That's okay. They play 3-5 Pacific tomorrow.

Arkansas tried really hard to complete a disappointing weekend. Up 3-1 going into the bottom of the 9th a fielding error gives up the tying run. Then hit a batter to load the bases, then Pacific hit their 4th single of the inning for the winning run. 0-4 in the tourney with losses to Gonzaga, Arizona State (x2), and Pacific! edited by OpihiMan on 3/3/2013

Yeah, Arkansas takes the biggest fall. I'm really surprised Pacific beat them.
Now I'm very curious to see how they do back home against SDSU for four games.

Illinois-Chicago just took a 1-0 lead on #3 Vanderbilt in the top of the 8th. Pulling for the underdogs here.

Don't put the fork in the Hogs yet. They tend to be resiliant.

Dang, UIC in the bottom of the 8th load the bases with THREE free passes then hit a batter to force in the tying run. 1-1 now, but I'm thinking they totally blew their chance with that.
Two-run walkoff homer in the bottom of the 10th. Vandy wins it 3-1. Blah. edited by Dodger Matt on 3/3/2013

Well they aren't necessarily a top team, and this isn't a surprise...but Texas just got swept by Stanford in walkoff fashion.

Arkansas dropped at least 12 spots in every poll this week. From 7-1 #2 to 7-5 and #14 or lower. Poor hog fans.
