At least you guys got the last one. I listened to the Bruin radio announcers the last few days. I'm curious what you think of them. I really like Mike Parker, the Beavers announcer, but struggle to listen to either of the Duck's announcers.

RD, a little dirt is deserved. Perhaps, even some manure.

Sorry to sound jaded, not meant to kick dirt in the beavs face. ASU really needed that series.

Matt, as always, thanks for your good work on the summaries. Have a great Easter.

Dodger Matt wrote:
Week 8 Summary

Oregon handled UCLA in the first two games easily, winning 6-2 and 8-3. In game three, the Ducks had a 5-run 2nd that chased starter Grant Watson, but the Bruins came back and tied it 5-5 after five. They took the lead 7-6 in the 7th, and added an 8th run for the final score in the 8th.
Oregon wins series 2-1.
  • Arizona State scored the majority of their runs in the whole series with two outs. OSU’s starting pitching was good, but allowed too many free passes, and those walks came back to hurt them. In game three, Jace Fry scattered 7 hits over 7.1 innings, but the Beavers left too many men on base and played subpar defensively, and ASU tied it 1-1 in the bottom of the 8th, took a 2-1 lead off reliever Cole Brocker, then jumped to a 5-1 lead when Brocker gave up a 2-out 3-run homer.
    Arizona State sweeps series 3-0.
  • The Cardinal came back from a 2-0 deficit to score the final 5 to take game one, but the Huskies led game two from the 1st inning on and even the series on a 7-6 win. In the rubber game, UW tied it 4-4 in the 7th, then 6-6 in the 8th. But Stanford scored two unanswered runs in the 9th for an 8-6 victory and 2-1 series victory.
    Stanford wins series 2-1.
  • In game one, USC led 4-0 after five, but Cal scored the next five, including two in the top of the 9th to win it 5-4. The Trojans duplicated that effect in game two, scoring two in the bottom of the 9th for a come-from-behind 2-1 victory to even the series. In the rubber game, Cal scored one to tie it 2-2 in the top of the 9th. Garrett Stubbs drew a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the 9th to beat Cal 3-2 and give the Trojans their second walk-off win in the series.
    USC wins series 2-1.
  • Utah continues to amaze, winning games against top Pac-12 teams that they shouldn’t and showing competitiveness in the games they lose. They were blown out 11-2 in game one, but scored 5 runs in their last two atbats in game two to beat Arizona 7-6. The Utes also put a 5-run inning on Arizona in game three to tie the game 7-7 before falling 11-7. The Utes nearly matched Arizona in the rubber game in hits, 14-12.
    Arizona wins series 2-1.
  • The Cougs skinned by to a 2-1 win in game one by scoring one in the 8th and one in the 9th. In game two, Wazzu blew Seattle’s doors off, 19-1. In game three, Seattle came from behind three times, the final time in the 8th inning, to defeat Washington State for the first time since 1968.
    Washington State wins series 2-1.

I think the Duckies are for real. RD, I'm pickiing them to win the series. I almost with 3-0, but just couldn't bring myself to do it.. The Ducks remind me of the Beavers last year when they got as high at 2nd in the nation.

After listening to the Beavers the last two days, I don't think they have the pitching to take all three from Ark Pine Butt School of the Blind. I turned my radio off after 5 innings today with OSU leading 7-0. I couldn't belive the final score was was 10-7.

Arizona 2 -1
Oregon 2 -1
ASU 2 - 1
UW 2 - 1
WSU 2 - 1
OSU 2 -1

FB, multiple Beavers, very impressive. I would have thought it would be illegal in Florida. Here in Oregon, the Beaver is becoming an endangered species. People have resorted to eating Beavers to save trees. Those darn environmentalists. I hear Beaver tastes alot like chicken and somtimes like fish.

Nice summary ASU74. You and Dodger Matt need to solicit Kendall for payment.

ASU74 wrote:
• Five Pac-12 teams are ranked in Baseball America’s top 25 poll: Arizona (4), Stanford (6), Oregon (16), UCLA (17) and Arizona State (21).

• Three Conference teams lead all Division I teams in major statistical categories: The No. 4 Wildcats have the highest batting average in the country through April 8 (.331), Washington is top-ranked in fielding percentage (.983) and Washington State leads the nation in double plays per game with 1.32 (37 double plays in 28 games).

• No. 21 Arizona State represents the West Coast as College Baseball Insider.com’s Regional Team of the Week after sweeping then-No. 20 Oregon State in Tempe. ASU junior shortstop Deven Marrero amassed four hits, two RBI, three runs, 12 assists and four putouts in the three-game series, earning him a spot on College Baseball 360’s Primetime Performers Honor Roll for Week Eight. Oregon sophomore outfielder and Pac-12 Player of the Week Brett Thomas earned the same honor for batting .636 (7-for-11) in three games against then-No. 5 UCLA last week, racking up two doubles, three runs scored, two RBI and two stolen bases as the then-No. 22 Ducks took two of three games from the Bruins in Los Angeles.

• Oregon sophomore Aaron Jones smacked two home runs against UCLA on Thursday, contributing to the Ducks’ 6-2 upset in the first game of the series. Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week Alex Keudell was on the mound for Oregon and hurled seven shutout innings to improve to 3-0 in his last three starts.

• Sun Devil RHP Brady Rodgers leads the Pac-12 with a 1.12 ERA, the 12th-best number among D-I pitchers. The junior improved to 5-1 after striking out six, walking one and giving up no earned runs over eight innings last Thursday. ASU’s staff ranks fourth nationally with a 2.62 ERA.

• USC senior RHP Andrew Triggs threw a complete game against California on Friday, striking out eight and allowing one run as the Trojans pulled off a two-run comeback in the ninth inning to defeat the Golden Bears, 2-1. USC also won Saturday’s contest in walk-off fashion after freshman catcher Garrett Stubbs drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth for the 3-2 win.

• Four Pac-12 teams rank in the top 20 for hits allowed per nine innings: Oregon (10th, 7.44), Washington (12th, 7.57), Arizona State (13th, 7.59) and UCLA (16th, 7.64).

Yeah, I will be the first to admit I could probably end up in the basement. Being in first is the place to be, and I really regret a couple of picks. But I really want to test my theory that any team can beat any team, regardless of where they are right now in the season. Yeah, AK Bluff will get destroyed, but you never know. I am sticking with my picks.

Are your sticking picks gluten free?

And does the sticking have any lactose in it, 'cause I'm intolerant, in a beaver sort of way.

DM, you are right! It does work anywhere.

While I picked the Beavs to go 2-1 this weekend, I really thought they would go 3-0. However, the Beavs are down 3-2 in the bottom of the 6th.I hope my pick doesn't come true.

Riverduck, the Ducks were very impressive tonight. I can now see them winning the Pac 12. I'm really impressed with Keudell. Was he a starter last year? I picked them to go 2-1 this weekend. I can almost see a sweep now.

I was amazed to see how Stanford fell apart in the last inning.

Pat Casey recorded his 600th victory today against the powerhouse Arkansas Pine Bluff.

I'm curious as to how folks would rate Casey from an all-time standpoint. I know he was selected as the Coach of the decade 2000 - 2009.

RD, Horton seems to have the Ducks riding high. So much of baseball is just confidence. Horton seems to get the most of his players, while Casey has been struggling this year. I wonder if he should of retired? Two out of the last three years he has played this sad story about how tired he is and alwasy threatens to retire. I wonder what impact this has on his team.
I know one of the Beaver's coaches very well from another University that I attended and worked. He said Casey is almost depressing to be around right now. He said that instead of guiding and coaching these young players, he is quick to chastise them and yank them out of games and their starting positions when they get into a slump. His constant
saying of "I don't make the lineup, the players do" actually puts more pressure on the players that are in slumps.

Where is the fat lady. I can hear her singing.

Well, if the Ducks and the Bruins keep winning their series.. it could come down to the Ducks beating the Bruins.. that is pretty exciting if you ask me. Not saying that is going to happen, but the way both teams are playing right now, it could happen. The six wins for the beavs really did nothing for them if you ask me. Reality is now here, and they are fighting to stay in the top half. Stanford/Beavs game is going to be HUGE!! The Beavs could return the favor of last years loss to the ducks to cost them the title. If you were to say that the Ducks would be 27-10, and tied for first right now at this point of the season- I would even say that would be crazy. Just really love being the lone duck on this board.. I can handle it when they keep winning. Here is to a series win for Ucla and the Ducks.
