Kendall, another question for you. How can you give Oregon a number 7 seed when they finish in third place in the Pac 10, but don't give Arizona a top seed? Is there a bit of Horton bias here? Is it the Duck's nifty uniforms? Why even bother to keep track of conference games and and finishing strong to win the conference?

RD, good to hear from you again. I could probably buy your logic, but it sure didn't hold true for OSU last year. Seems like the same scenario. Why would the Ducks deserve a top 8 seed this year when the Beavers didn't last year?

Going back from last year.. I put so much weight on that last "awesome series win versus our rivals... that should mean.." I learned that baseball is a long season, and things do not, and should not come down to one series. Look at some of the series you had that were awful.. Yeah, are worst was the last, but don't base are entire years work on that. Come on Beaver Bob.. get real.
Oh, yeah- Congrats on the win- hope it will get you where you guys need to go.

Yeah, a third place finish in the Pac 12 and an 0-3 finish. Why even bother to play the last weekend?

Glad to see you are in good spirits. I went to the game today with a good Duck fried of mine who played for Mel Kraus. He took the weekend pretty hard.

I am feeling really proud of my 15.. My ducks go down, and I go down hard as well. Well, I am not duckfan127 who bails. I stick with it and continue forward. Yes my team got spanked, yes they sucked this series, but hey- anyone, can beat anyone any time, any place.. Had an amazing wine tour, hike with the family.. so I am feeling pretty good right now.

Arizona a NS?

DM, you are probably right. It makes no sense that the PAC 12 co -champion isn't rewarded, while the third place team is. Rowdy make a great argument.

If the Pac 12 is either one of the top two conferences and the co-champs can't get a national seed, something is broken.

Actually, just the opposite, I am considering the entire season, with emphasis on the Pac 12 season. Pretty simple math. Arizona has a better Pac 12 record at 20-10 versus Oregon's 19-11. Arizona is 8-2 in the last 10 games while Oregon is 7-3. Both teams have lost 17 games for the year and Oregon has played 5 more games giving them a higher overall win total.

I have no problem with Oregon being a top 8 seed based on their good year, but think given the choice between the two teams, Arizona deserved the spot.

Pac-10 Win Pac-10 Loss Pac-10 % Games Back Overall Win Overall Loss Overall % Last 10

UCLA 20 10 0.667 -- 42 - 14 0.750 9-1 W-4
Arizona 20 10 0.667 -- 38 -17 0.691 8-2 W-1
Oregon 19 11 0.633 1 42 -17 0.712 7-3 L-1

Right, ignore the entire season and focus on a one game difference in the conference standings.

Me too. And I will also be on the road next weekend (Playing 36 holes of golf a day in Reno and Tahoe from Wednesday through Saturday) and will have limited internet access to listen to the game.

RD, good luck to your Ducks. I'm now ready to move on and look forward to the Beavers playing in Swamp town. While I don' t think I can bring myself to root for the Ducks, I just won't root against them.

Are you going to try and catch a game in person over the weekend?

I just wanted to take a moment and reflect and thank all of those who have given their life in service to our Country. Also, Iā€™d like to thank those who are currently serving or have served. It sounds like we have several in the forum ā€“ Thanks so Much. Your service puts baseball into perspective, especially the back and forth in this forum.

Kendall, thanks for providing a great forum and place to kick around college baseball.

FB, I'll ditto that thought about Starr. Except for one game against Oregon, he has gotten beat up every game he has pitched. I know there is a good story with his three surgeries and his comeback, but I'm not sure he has the stuff he had several years ago.

What's up with Matt Boyd? Two years ago, he was the Beavers best player. He played the field, pitched, and hit well. Now, he is no where to be found.

Dan Spencer, the Beavs old pitching coach during their three runs to the World Series was fired from Texas Tech last month. I say bring him back.

Yeah, Kendall has been very absent from any discussion in this forum. I did pay for the premium board last yeard, but was very dissapointed with its content.

SouthernBeaver wrote:
Yeah... I'm guessing Kendall mainly just appears in the premium forum these days? My impression is people flocked here to follow him when Rivals went to crap, but didn't want to pay when their old hangout was free. In my case, I pay at Rivals for BeaverBlitz (IMO, by far the best beaver-only site for any sport), and I won't pay for more than one.

I do prefer PG over Rivals and really do enjoy Kendall's contributions when he is invovled. I'm not sure I would look elsewhere as I apprecitate the folks that do contribute to this forum. I'd love to see them hire DM as a suppliment to Kendall. DM is an excellent writer and could become the Pac 11/12 expert.

It's a shame because I have alot of respect for Kendall but I pay for beaver nation online, and tickets occasionally, I know he just went to monthly but before that I couldn't justify the additional cost. Now it's too late for this season, as he slowly fades from the free forums it may be time to start looking elsewhere...and I mean absolutely no disrespect
