Pilots vs Ducks

Too bad college baseball doesn't have a mercy rule. I don't think I have ever seen a college team play as poor as the Pilots are, and the first inning is still going on. Looks like the Pilots have already given up. I've always like their coach, but it might be time for a coaching change. I'd like to see them hire Linfield's coach, Scott Brocius.

You are probably right DM. However, I know he played his high school ball at Rex Putnam in Miwaulkie. I'd think at some point, he may want to move to the next level.

Yep, very nasally! I had to turn off the audio for the video feed and go with Mike Parker. His call is a few second ahead of the video, but still better then listing to the twang.

I'm sure you all have this info, but just in case, you can catch the Beavers radio on the following:

Good call. The runner needs to run outside the the line and in the secondary line on the way to first.

From the rule book:

In running the last half of the distance from home plate to first base while
the ball is being fielded to first base, the batter-runner runs outside the
3-foot restraining line or inside the foul line and, in so doing, interferes
with the fielder taking the throw at first base, except that the batter may
go outside these lines to avoid a fielder attempting to field a batted ball;
A.R. 1—If the batter-runner runs illegally inside the foul line for the last 45 feet and
interferes with the attempted catch of the thrown ball, or is hit by the throw, the batterrunner
shall be called out even if the runner is in his approach to the base.
A.R. 2—The batter-runner is considered outside this 3-foot lane if either foot is outside
either line

0 - 0 Tie in the third. Two Duck hitters hit by pitch so far in this inning. Getting hit by pitch might be the only way the Ducks can get on base.

Wetzler is struggling tonight. Parker just said he has given up 2 earned runs in the last 47 innings.

Great job Nate. Wetlzer turns around and hits batter after pep talk.

The third ends with three Duck hitters hit by pitched balls and now lead 4-0. No need to swing the bat when you can stick your wing across the plate.

I'm not sure how many of you have been to the WSU campus, but it is my favorite of all Pac 12 schools. Baily Brayton Field is okay -- I love the the football stadium, I think it is called Martin Stadium. The campus is very compact with several new buildings and programs. During football season, I went to watch the OSU/WSU game and had a great time. The tailgate facilities were great and the Cougar fans and tailgaters were very hospitable.

I'm not sure I can tell the difference between the Beaver's and the Duck's offense right now. The Beavers only scored 7 runs last week against Stanford and were outhit by Stanford. For the last 4 games, 8 runs for an average of 2 runs per game.

In all seriousness, I'm not sure if Yeskie is a good or bad pitching coach -- I know Kendall sees him in the running for assistant coach of the year this year. I do know that the Beaver's bullpen just doesn't seem ready to pitch when they come in. It's probably a variety of factors, but if they are going to be in the hunt for one of the top 8 seeds, they are going to need to find a solution.
