2004 Southeast Top Prospect Showcase
Drew Aldridge is a 6'3", 180 lb. right handed pitcher from Atlanta, Georgia, with an athletic frame and a projectable pitcher's body. Drew has a rotational delivery with high hands at the start, and comes down to throw across his body from a low 3/4 release point. His fastball at UNC was in the 83-84 mph range and we've seen him at 84-86 mph at WWBA events this summer. He throws a 66 mph curveball that gets pretty good two-plane break considering his release point. Drew has some effort in his unconventional delivery, but is a good athlete who shows the ability to command his pitches and get outs. He should add some velocity in the future, which will make his release point more intimidating. Drew is an excellent student.
