2023 Rocky Mountain Workout Showcase (Fri.)
Jack Phiel is a 2025 UT/SS, OF with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Denver, CO who attends Northfield. Lengthy athletic looking frame that can easily hold much more muscle in the levers right now. Ran a 7.34 60-yard dash. Took reps in the outfield, double crow hop on throws, in between chop steps during build up to it, works through it nicely, solid one hop accuracy to the bag, under control game actions here. Also took a round of infield, upright process during the throw, smaller hitch at top of the slot, developing feel for backhand, corner actions at present for the infield, looked coordinated on the charge, things to refine here with solid foundation. Right-handed hitter, even base, hands by chest with low back elbow, loose and relaxed hands with rhythm pre pitch, high knee lift trigger, hit bottom half of the baseball, some lean strength shows, has some bat speed present tendency to dip back shoulder, level path creates good results off barrel when right. Solid frame to project on with some hand speed and arm strength from the outfield grass, easy to see improvements coming soon. Outstanding student.
