Werner has a nice pitcher’s body at 6-2, 180 lbs and looks like he can add some strength as he matures. He has a smooth arm action and a simple, low maintenance delivery that should prove durable in the future. Werner’s fastball was in the 81-84 mph range. Where we think Werner can make a quick improvement is with his breaking ball. He threw a good number of his breaking balls in the upper 60’s and they were only fair, with an early, rolling break. But when Werner threw this pitch harder around 72 mph, it had tight spin and a much more effective break. With some work, this harder breaking ball could develop into a quality pitch for him. He has a good arm, seems to know what he's doing and he's an excellent student.
