Tanner Stroud is a 2009 SS/3B/2B with a 5'9'', 175 lb. frame from Statesville, NC who attends Statesville HS. He has a medium athletic build with some strength to him. Stroud ran the 60 in 7.57 and threw 71 mph during drills. He showed a much stronger arm during games that he did during drills and made strong throws. The one thing that Stroud needs to do defensively is play on his toes and have some bounce in his step, he tends to be stationary often in the field and projects to third base. Offensively, Stroud hits out of a crouched stance with his hands load well back. He has a line drive pull swing and stays on the ball well and for a long time. He made good, consistent contact in games. He will have to shorten his swing as pitcher's velocities increase but has some hitting tools. Stroud is a very good student.
